If Bourn comes onboard, I’d go with Bourn (L) / Tejada (R) / Murphy (L) / Wright (R) / Davis (L) / Buck (R) / Duda (L) / Nieuwenhuis (L) or Cowgill (R) / Pitcher

This splits the L/R pretty much down the entire lineup. I could also make the case for Cowgill 2nd and Tejada 8th versus lefthanders since that preserves the L/R balance. Also, if and when d’Arnaud comes up, you can slide him into the #6 spot in the lineup without the pressure of batting him 3, 4, or 5 but with the protection of Duda (supposing he’s playing up to his talent level) batting behind him.

If Bourn signs (which I am still not crazy about) what if they went with this:

Ike

Baxter

Splits your lefties in the middle of the order and nestles Ike between a pair of .300 hitters with respectable pop.

I’m not saying he’s garbage, and he could probably do alright in the 2 spot, but there isn’t enough speed for my liking. He does hit for contact, so that’s nice.

I actually think he would be a decent #2 hitter just as Murphy is. I don’t have an issue with Tejada then Murphy.

Only reason I would flop Murph and Ike from 3 to 5 would be to get Ike more ABs. Unfortunately, there are way too many LH bats in the lineup and putting Wright in the 4 sport helps that a little. Hopefully Darrrr-Nooo comes up ASAP and can be the RH batter in the 6th spot. Ideally he’d hit 5th, but I’m not dropping him in there right away. Hopefully Duda hits enough to warrant 2 lefties back to back and to be in the 5 spot. That would solve a bunch for this team.

I like the rotation, the bullpen is not a lock so I don’t know about Feliciano or Francisco. I’m not feeling that projected lineup, especially with Duda & Bax in the OF. Seems like things fall off the table after Davis. Add Valdespin (if he makes a speedy recovery), Den Dekker (if Bourn is a no go) and if he looks good out of camp, d’Arnaud in the lineup and mix it up a little.

In a perfect world:

1. CF Matt Den Dekker (L)
2. LF Jordany Valdespin (L)
3. 3B David Wright (R)
4. 1B Ike Davis (L)
5. C Travis d’Arnaud (R)
6. 2B Daniel Murphy (L)
7. SS Ruben Tejada (R)
8. RF Collin Cowgill (R)

I agree Bourne would help the lineup but NO WAY I ever flip flop Ike and Murph. Murph bats either 3 or 2. Tejada is either 2 or bottom of the order (7 ish). Ike stays 5 or 4. He k’s too much and his avg. is too low for 3.

I love me some Tejada. I love me some more Tejada if the rest of the lineup allowed him to bat in his proper spot in the lineup which is 7th or 8th. Not enough pop nor enough speed to really hit anywhere else.

well, the 2-4 spots look good in this lineup.

Would love to see Bourn at the top.

Wonder if this would be acceptable. Bourn/Tejada/Murph/Wright/Ike/Duda/Buck/Baxter. Ike and Murph could be flipped, if needed.
