Law Ranks Wheeler, d’Arnaud, Syndergaard In Top 100 MLB Prospects

mets top prospects

Hopefully, ESPN doesn’t kill me for sharing this from my ESPN Insider account. Shhh… Don’t tell anybody…

Zack Wheeler

Travis d'Arnaud

Noah Syndergaard

This seems to be a recurring dream – I mean theme -or is it meme…

I think it’s awesome that virtually every minor league expert, baseball scout and baseball executive, seem to share the same sentiment on these three. All of them can’t be wrong…

For those of you who want to see Keith Law’s complete list, ESPN Insiders can go here.

  • Tell who about what now? ;-)

Thanks for sharing this. I know I’m looking forward to seeing what these kids can do.

  • ‘All of them can’t be wrong…’

    Crossing my fingers….

  • Take a moment to consider the following:
    Dwight Gooden MLB 1985
    At age 20:
    24-4 1.53 ERA .965 WHIP 229 ERA+
    35 GS, 16 CG, 277 IP, 69 BB/268 K

For those of you too young to have seen it, it was truly awesome.

    • Dave… I am sure 85% didn’t see it… But somehow i am sure they’ll argue how wheeler is better already SMH

      • :)

    • and then you have the usual suspects rationalizing and making up arguments as they go like this isn’t 1983 and it can’t compare to 2013 when that has nothing to do with anything either.

Harvey is up, he’s a good pitcher, will be in my and many others opinions. The Mets have a nice roster neglected by the GM when it should have at least one major league OFer to help. The infield is set, they have a catcher coming up.

The time is now to add the pieces. That’s it. And it has nothing to do with comparing years.

    • Dave, that was one of the greatest Mets seasons of all time. It was pure magic and I saw him pitch once that The electricity at Shea when he was on the mound.was indescribable. With every strikeout the roar of the crowd was deafening. One of those things you never forget.

      • And the original K Korner… Just the electricity knowing what was possible from that kid on any given day…

    • BTW, that was his second season. In his first he won ROY. In his second he won Cy Young– unanimously. He also had a .201 BAA.

  • My lips are sealed :-)
Being I’m not an ESPN insider this share was much appreciated…Thanks!
I also like, and am optimistic about, the fact that most baseballers in the know are in agreement about these prospects…lots to look forward to.

  • What a SHOCK. Keith Law ranks Mets prospects lower than the consensus.

    EFF HIM. He’s an idiot.

  • The scary part of what you posted is D’Anaurd’s inability to stay healthy. Having played only two out of five full seasons is a red flag.

Remember, we traded the current Cy Young award winner for an often injured minor league catcher who has yet to take an at bat in the major leagues.

I hope he lives up to the hype.

  • Btw, Brandon Nimmo barely missed the list as KLaw’s 110 prospect.

Michael Fulmer – according to Parks – will make his top 101 while Wilmer Flores – according to Sickels will make his Top 100.

So, while the first three seem pretty set, there’s no consensus on the next 3….
