Jordany Valdespin Shares Twitter Login With Cousin, Do You?
Maybe it is me, but I don’t think I will ever understand Jordany Valdespin. At one time I wanted him to get a chance and wonder why he hadn’t. Now, it is clear. The guy’s elevator doesn’t go to the top and he ranks low on the charm and responsibility meters.
When asked by reporters today in Port St. Lucie to explain why his Twitter account had a photo of himself wearing a Marlins cap, he lamely said it was taken by his cousin who put up the picture.
“Things happen,” Valdespin said. “My cousin put that picture over here. I don’t have any information about that. When I see that picture, everything happened, and I said, ‘What the —-?’ But I had a big problem with my family about that. So that’s not my fault.’’
Yes, it is his fault. On two counts. One, for wearing the Marlins’ cap in the first place in public, and two, for giving a relative access to your social media account. Evidently, the photo was online long enough for people to notice.
Be a man and assume responsibility. That’s what the Mets want to see from him, not weak excuses that can easily be shredded.
The Mets, despite his five pinch-hit homers, were irked by Valdespin’s attitude and occasional lack of hustle. They also weren’t thrilled by him getting suspended in winter ball.
Technically, Valdespin showed up on time, but if nearly everybody else on the team can come to camp early, why can’t he? That his winter league schedule ended a week or so before doesn’t wash. He said he had cramps, but wouldn’t the smart thing to do would be to show up in Florida where he could receive treatment?
It would be, if he were smart.
With the state of the Mets’ outfield, Valdespin, with a strong spring training could have made a case for himself. He has some tools, especially speed and occasional pop. It’s not as if Kirk Nieuwenhuis, Mike Baxter and Collin Cowgill are on a fast track to Cooperstown. It is safe to say that when a team finishes 14 games below .500, that pretty much most jobs are open the following spring.
Valdespin has an opportunity that so few are given to play in the major leagues and he’s sabotaging himself. As of now, Valdespin is ticketed to begin the season at Triple-A Las Vegas. When he’ll be with the Mets is anybody’s guess that is if they care enough.
Apparently he doesn’t.

I have no problem with him taking the time to R&R after playing a very full winter year. Do nothing but relax and let your mind and body recover from the grind, spend time with your family, etc. Not like he has to arrive at ST early to get into playing shape!
the Twitter thing, that was dumb. I am surprised teams haven’t just instituted a no twitter policy for all players (constitution be damned!). No good can really ever come out of it, and giving access to a cousin? Dopey.
still, the only thing that should really matter is whatever behavioral issues got him suspended. Because he should have a full shot, same as the rest of the make-good guys, and earning an OF gig in ST. Probably would help if he had a dominant “father figure” type on the team to mentor/oversee him (the old cliff Floyd/Julio Franco role). Some guys do seem to respond to that, though of course, some don’t give a crap!
I CAN’T STAND THIS CLOWN! That being said, he showed up on time. Any complaints about him not being one of the ones to arrive early are just piling on. Any who thinks he doesn’t want to win because he showed up just “on time” is extrapolating.
Even if we are supposed to buy his explanation for that pic of him with a Marlin’s cap, he still obviously doesn’t get it – as evidenced by the latest instagram pic he put up today:
http://instagram.com/p/Vy1kruAMMs/
Inappropriate, to say the least – especially when he obviously knows the media and some fans probably regularly check in.
Hi srt,
I see Valdy taking the Lastings Miledge path and will be another talent that goes wasted.
That joke is an old one and was used in somewhat the same manner by Sonny Bono on the premier of his ill fated and not too funny “Sony Bono Comedy Hour” almost 40 years ago on ABC
He was a prisoner visited by his wife and was worried she would not be faithful. She told him not to worry, that the only other person to see her with her clothes off was Dr. so and so. Sonny said, yeah, but he’s our dentist.
Hey Joey….I’d like to say both the Sonny and Cher hour and Sonny’s show was before my time but sadly, that’s not true.
I made the same comparison with Lastings. I realize these kids are just…well kids when they’re drafted but I have to believe part of that minor league development includes conducting yourself like a professional.
Hi srt,
Of course when that age we all feel we know everything and slowly learned as we ran into roadblock upon roadblock that showed us differently. But with those who don’t, it is not a sign of natural immaturity but of bigger problems or just plain arrogance. Unfortunately, I think there are more athletes who take after Joe DiMaggio than they do Kid.
Spin in Las Vegas….what could go wrong.
LMAO
i never even thought of that….
the fact that NYC is a big club…with a large 7 day a week party going Dominican population…and Jordany was able to avoid any scandal…probably means he can avoid the scandal in Vegas…
Wow, that’s awful. I bet the Mets didn’t see that. Yet.
srt you don’t understand, hold on let me get Damaja’s quotes….
“players from OTHER COUNTRIES are kinda out of touch with how important this NON-IMPORTANT stuff is to you folks.
Jordany Valdespin is probably worried about his family having electricity the next time a blackout happens in his town. ”
He doesn’t have time to worry about acting like a professional……….
Priceless. Well, almost priceless, when you factor in foreign exchange rates and all that.
LOL, oh boy…..
because how you dress during the winter…is an accurate reflection of your PROFESSIONALISM?
Sandy Alderson takes cheap shots at other players, GM’s and organizations for years….but he is the poster child for professionalism.
I like RA Dickey…and somehow he was also made out to be a bad guy on his way out of town.
Like I said, u folks are sheep.
bahhhhhhhhaaaaahhhhhhaaaaa
No Damaja – posting a picture on your public instagram about a woman giving you oral is an accurate reflection of your professionalism or lack thereof. Look at the photo SRT posted from Valdespin’s account before trying to come to his defense about something we’re not even talking about.
Again, as i stated before..
Jordany is used to being a no-body that plays baseball.
had Jordany just opened another twitter account ( as most celebs do ) and kept it secret…Jordany could post whatever pic he wants
What Jordany needs is media management training. It sounds like common sense to folks who grow up in the states and KNOW how the media is here….
Again, if Jordany hits .340 with 45 HR and 60 SB…its not that big of a deal
since Jordany has no glove in the infield, has lil patience at the plate, and hasnt displayed alot of value, every lil thing he does is a big deal, esp in NY
this was something that Mike Lupica said today about modern day sports media
“– Kevin Youkilis, who has one of the biggest hearts in baseball and has always had one of the dirtiest uniforms, speaks from the heart about the Red Sox this week and you immediately got the idea that he’s slashed the tires on Joe Girardi’s car.
You know why?
Because it takes nothing these days for something to be treated as a controversy.
No, check that.
It takes less than nothing when we exist in a sports culture where we require a Big Story for every single news cycle.”
THIS is why we hear all the non-sports stories about athletes we do today…
Jordany Valdespin wearing a Marlins hat will have folks talking for months.
Carlos Beltran walking around the projects in the freezing December winter PERSONALLY handing out food and coats to poor people?
NOT EVEN A PEEP on metsblog…not even a peep on ESPN’s Met page ( adam rubin )…nada…nothing…
http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/baseball/mets/carlos-beltran-delivers-food-new-yorkers-wednesday-believes-mets-contend-2011-article-1.474329
When Carlos Beltran goes BY HIMSELF in the off-season to visit veterans….it makes no news on SNY…metsblog…ESPN
http://www.nydailynews.com/new-york/queens/cheers-vets-mets-true-heroes-article-1.419967
10 months later…
when the walter reed incident happened…it was ALL OVER metsblog, espn, etc…then folks started yapping that Beltran, Ollie and Castillo ( but not Gee ) are not appreciative of this country…blah blah blah…
negativity sells…this is why Jordany can feed a starving village in Africa and if he wears a Marlin hat when he does it…thats all people are going to talk about
now the fact that the mets see more need in the infield…despite the fact that we have more need in the OF….tells me that they are setting him up for failure.
and b/c he is already unpopular, folks will never see it like that…
his choice of hats and regular joe-blow behavior on twitter blinds folks to that…
I’m rooting hard for this kid but he’s making it tougher and tougher by acting like a complete moron. Where’s his father? Who knows, maybe he doesn’t respect him either but this kid better shape up soon cuz i don’t know where the border ends. Bad attitude doesn’t make up for just being a complete crackpot.
Shape up, kid.
Maybe he doesn’t have a father (deadbeat).
I’d say wearing a tank top and jeans is another offense.
So when David Wright is home all winter long, and only goes to camp a week or two before spring training, that is 1000% better than, Jordany playing 3 months of winter ball in the offseason and taking a week or rest before Spring Training starts back up?
How can you all consider yourself real fans? give the guy a break.
That Hat thing has been blown out of proportion. Something tells me, that my generation (30 and under) does not really care, because we understand that a hat is a part of fashion. The only ones who seem to care so much about the Hat, are older, old school guys that expect their players to live and die by their team, yet in todays world… Youkilis just said hes a Red Sock for life, but hes playing for the yankees? It’s a different game today ladies and gentleman, and him wearing a Miami Hat is a non-story
I agree with you. I can care less about the hat and that he wasn’t a week early.
i actually am rooting for him because out of all the of candidates, he is the only one with the speed and power combo. Plusi hope his winter league patience is not a mirage and translates to the majors. I really wish he played cf.
Saying all that, I do agree that he needs to grow up as evident by the problems with management in the minors and winter league. BUT if he plays well, watch how fast all the valdespin haters will forgive.
A bad analogy sir…..Veteran ballplayers with D.W.’s resume do not play winter ball!. But young players looking for playing time do play winter ball with he idea of honing their skills. Only a punk ends up getting suspended like he did.
Valdespin has shown a bad attitude through the minor leagues. Send him packing!
yes, but Murphy is a poor defensive 2B, are u telling me he couldnt use more work on his D?
or Tejada on his Offense?
or Duda overall?
sorry…but Wright is the exception, there are alot of players on this team that can use all the help they get
sadly, met fans are still caught up on issues that dont affect the outcome of the game…
who gives a flying f*ck what he does on the internet????
or if he shares a twitter login with his cousin.
players from OTHER COUNTRIES are kinda out of touch with how important this NON-IMPORTANT stuff is to you folks.
Jordany Valdespin is probably worried about his family having electricity the next time a blackout happens in his town.
You’re worried about what he wears on on a Friday night in December.
All due respect to those who struggle with the issues you describe but I find it hard to feel bad for anybody when they are posing in designer jeans and what appears to be diamond studded jewelry.
that’s b/c u make judgements based on snapshots of a person’s life.
that ice can be fake. the designer jeans can be fake.
the lack of electricity, running water, the sister’s education he pays for. the mother who needs surgery, all this stuff is real too, none of it gets reported.
Jennry Mejia was shining shoes for loose change when his mother FORCED him to play baseball b/c the family needed a way to escape poverty.
so faking an age, taking steroids, killing/injuring your competition….all these things happen b/c there is no social system to address poverty.
In DR, If u are dirt poor, most of the time ur way out is baseball or crime….pimping, drugs, helping others escape to PR…whatever…its the wild wild west…a conservative’s wet dream…no taxes…no health-care…u get what u pay for…everything privatized…
most of you folks have no clue what that life is like.
“Either you’re selling crack rock or you got wicked jump shot…it’s kinda hard being young from the slums…eating 5 cent gums…not knowing where your next meal’s coming from”
- Biggie
Please. Spare me this “he’s a humble guy” routine. Maybe more of the stuff you say would get reported if he wasn’t so immature?
There are plenty of people living with the same story you tell of his or worse and many of those same people do not post photos
- posing shirtless
- posing in designer clothes
- blinged out jewlery
- 20 pairs of shoes
- 12 belts
- his “baby” which is a red camaro
He’s earned every penny he’s made and I hope he makes more in his life, but spare me this idea that Valdespin is just a humble guy with a tough upbringing. He’s a guy who likes flash, flare and likes to take photos of himself with no shirt on. He’s not a humble guy. A humble guy doesn’t post photos like he does.
Now – Valdespin is still a kid. You hope that he can grow up one day and realize the $ he has today can be gone tomorrow… but who knows.
And also this idea that I cannot judge him based on his photos is total bs. That’s exactly why he posts those photos. He wants the world to see him. He wants us to see his 20 pairs of shoes, his designer clothes, his leather bound belts with diamond studded buckle and his beautiful camaro. If he didn’t want everybody to see it, he wouldn’t post it.
>Please. Spare me this “he’s a humble guy” routine.
nope…never said he was humble…I said I dont know him…he COULD be humble…he COULD be family oriented and the Dominican version of Wally Beaver….in reality, I, NOR YOU, know Jordany Valdespin any more than we know Kerry Washington.
>Maybe more of the stuff you say would get reported if he wasn’t so immature?
Maybe that stuff is boring and not as sensationalistic as negative news….
There are plenty of people living with the same story you tell of his or worse and many of those same people do not post photos
- posing shirtless
- posing in designer clothes
- blinged out jewlery
- 20 pairs of shoes
- 12 belts
- his “baby” which is a red camaro
YES, and there are PLENTY of regular folks who pose pictures shirtless…with designer clothes…blinged out jewlery…20 pairs of shoes…etc…
go to facebook….i swear u’ll see a 1,000 folks with the same pics…the problem here is…most of you folks are not young…and urban….so u can not relate to someone living that lifestyle….Jordany Valdespin looks like the avg 24 year old from the Bronx….it doesnt mean he is robbing a liquor store, mowing down young teenagers in his SUV ( like A.Burgos ) ….or taking a girls pocketbook ( like Kirk N did in college ) …
it probably means he is attached to his smart phone…wears skinny jeans….and listens to really corny music…
>He’s earned every penny he’s made and I hope he makes more in his life, but spare me this >idea that Valdespin is just a humble guy with a tough upbringing.
My idea is I dont KNOW Jordany, and a few pictures doesnt do enough to bridge THAT GAP
>He’s a guy who likes flash, flare and likes to take photos of himself with no shirt on. He’s not a >humble guy. A humble guy doesn’t post photos like he does.
LMAO.
So I guess David Wright is no longer humble ?
http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0Khw7WcX3uA/T6JcEJRN-hI/AAAAAAAAB7I/D8vqJOtiNAs/s1600/shirtlesswright.jpg
all i am saying….is that there are multiple sides to people…and looking at snapshots of people’s lives doesnt give enough to make sweeping judgements of their character….
where David Wright and Jordany differ is in their way of handling the media…
David is smart enough not to open that pandora’s box of social media…
Jordany does need someone to school him on handling public perception
cuz at the end of the day, with most of u folks, public perception takes precedence over production
I dont give a sh*t what Jordany wears, what hat he wears, what jewlery he wears,
our front office just traded American sports biggest philanthropist since Roberto Clemente, and TRASHED him on his way out…after giving us one of the best pitching seasons in franchise history…
and still Sandy defenders on this site were influenced by the wilpon-fed medial abeling RA as selfish, self-centered, arrogant.
u guys are sheep, incapable of independent thought.
if the media says X enough times…..u believe X
“that ice can be fake. the designer jeans can be fake.”
All signs that someone is trying to convince the world they are successful without actually having the success to show instead….
Noone is denying how hard it is to come up poor JDD…
And your mention of Biggie only adds the exclamation point to that…
he HAD the success to get out and away from the streets…But he never made the decision to leave those streets and it got him killed! He continued to hang out with all those STREET friends and Gangstas….
It is understandable that someone from a poor background doesn’t really understand the money isn’t what marks you as a success, it’s what you DID to get the money that does….
It is still a sign that he needs to grow and stop acting like he is still living on the corner and start TURNING that corner towards the success that will keep in REAL ICE and Designer Jeans…
If he continues to act like he has nothing to prove he will prove NOTHING and wind up back on that street corner selling drugs and his soul because he was too stupid to take advantage of the opportunity given to him.
I know a lot of friends who were pretty damn successful in the Music Industry who thought royalty checks were going to come forever. Bought a VCR and Big Screen TV for every room in the house, Bought lots of Bling and big cars which in the end were all sold off to pay thier rent when they stopped doing what made them the money in the first place (making good music) because they thought they had done everything they needed to ever do to keep the check coming.
Valdespin continues to keep ACTING like he is a superstar already…He is NOT!
And if he doesn’t start BEING a superstar or at least a Major League player who can earn a few million a year he will wind up back on that corner, hanging out with his old street buddies and all he will have to show for it is stories of how he almost had a MLB career but blew it.
Actions are what make the money, not acting….
He had better realize it or he will have failed his family and himself.
“Valdespin continues to keep ACTING like he is a superstar already…He is NOT!”
I think Valdespin is acting like any regular kid who just got his first job making some money…
I see 100 Jordany Valdespins in any random Uptown club.
The difference is all eyes are on him…and for the 1st time in his life, he just realized it.
Having a Beltran or Reyes is vital for someone like that…esp since a David Wright isnt exactly taking foreign born non english speaking kids under his wing
“At the time you get mad, but what can I do? I’m not going to fight with anybody in here,” Valdespin said. “We’re a family in here. Sometimes they do it to be happy, have fun.”
David Wright had to take Valdespin aside to let him know that the team likes having him around, and that he shouldn’t take the incident personally.
“I would never do that,” Valdespin said. “You know why? Because you’ve got to respect everybody. The example here is this guy, David Wright. He’s the captain of the team. He respects everybody.”
I stand corrected about DW….
Well JDD….All I can say is Kids will be Kids….
which is why it is so important to have good leadership on a team to mentor them….
and what many seem to forget here is even if Wright is a good leader as they say, he can’t mentor everyone all by himself….
We had Hernandez, Carter and Knight in 86….
Between the three of them there was always someone there for them to gravitate to and get the mentoring they needed.
With as many kids as we have here even if Wright was as good a leader as hernandez there still wouldn’t be enugh of him to go around considering all the kids we have here.
good point, however i, nor straw, no doc, no whitey herzog or any of the kids that played with keith dont consider hernandez a good leader.
he was a great player…however he may have helped lead straw and doc down a path to destruction. He was considered the ring leader of those party going teams.
Kid on the other hand was said to be a great influence.
David Wright grew up in a very politically correct, docile but talented Mets team.
You need guys who get in ur face…..Notice after BJ and Evan Longoria got into it…u never heard another story about BJ Upton not hustling….and that was several years ago….
The type of personality David Wright is…is very much like Derek Jeter…
good guy…put him on a team with leaders and ur fine
expect him to BE that leader…and ur expecting too much
I suggest you watch the Mets All Time Team show again….
Pay special attention to what Strawberry had to say….
Then change your name to your usual so we know who we should be laughing at whenever you post with your usual nick!
“The type of personality David Wright is…is very much like Derek Jeter…”
Absolutely not. 2 entirely different personalities. Not even close. Just because they are both good guys does not mean they both share the same level of intensity as athletes.
Not. Even. Close.
And I think these extremely silly Wright/Jeter comparisons should stop. Now.
Are you serious? He was paid, pro rates for service time, $500,000 last season. You are telling me that he couldnt help out anyone that he wanted with that kind of money in the DR. The damn country is 3rd world in most parts, Valdy’s one year salary puts him in the elite down there.
no doubt…it also means he is feeding a whole lotta folks…hell im not even from there, and i go there and end up feeding folks….
anyone making even moderate money in America that goes back to DR has to go down with enough loot to take care of their peeps…
all i am saying….is that there are multiple sides to people…and looking at snapshots of people’s lives doesnt give enough to make sweeping judgements of their character….
His winter league just ended – I don’t see anything wrong with him taking a few days before reporting to camp.
The hat issue was dumb – and shows poor judgement on his part- but not really that big of deal overall. He shouldn’t be wearing a hat of another baseball team, and he should know that people are going to react negatively to such things – but a hat isn’t something worth going too nuts over.
However, he does have a rep of having a lousy attitude – has been suspended a few times from his own team – for “insubordination” and for other reasons that have been kept quiet. He seems to have a knack for pissing off teammates and coaches at every level. Those are bigger issues IMO. That and the fact that he hasn’t really shown himself to be a good player as of yet. Mediocre player with a lousy attitude isn’t a great combo.
But these two issues – particularly the showing up on time but not super early – isn’t something to really gripe over.
‘He seems to have a knack for pissing off teammates and coaches at every level.”
and they seem to develop convient amnesia those times he was hitting clutch HR’s…
jason bay and andres torres on the other hand were nice guys and great teammates that everyone on this board saw as addition by subtraction.
Well you know he comes from a poor family where they had to share a bed, clothes, even a fork during dinner….
Oh yeah and a Twitter account!
When I was a kid we used to live in a shoebox on the side of the road….
but don’t tell kids today that…they won’t believe you!
Thanks for sharing yor offensive views
Exacty what offended you there? Are you a shoebox?
I just spent the last six minutes laughing. Hilarious. Well done.
You are as mature as a 10 year old.
And you ARE a 10 year od….Come back when you have some hair in your pants kid!
Simply its a lame excuse for pulling that stunt with the Marlins cap. Spin needs to step up and mature or be like Lasting Milledge in get the hell out of Flushing department.
I understand him perfectly well. He’s equal parts idiot and primadona.
Hey, we had a coke head as co-captain in 86. A guy who got run off a World Series contender even though he was an MVP for them. ‘spin isn’t anywhere near that bad.
The kid’s probably spent the better part of his life hearing how “awesome” he is. He needs someone to make him realize he isn’t. Of course, if he produces the way people think he can. none of us will care in the long run.
The hat…meh. The media did blow it out or proportion, bu he needs to be more aware of that sort of thing. He should have just said something along the lines of how it is a popular hat where he is from and he’s been sheltered form the whole fan rivalry thing.
And we need to realize kids will say stupid things on twitter.
Or they are smart players with their priorities in order.
Just b/c they don’t like him (and not all players at the major league level would necessarily be aware or care about the trouble he’s gotten into) doesn’t mean they can’t be happy when he does something productive to help the team win (though to this point that has been a rare event)
Oops that was supposed to be a reply to Just-Da-Damaja’s “and they seem to develop convient amnesia those times he was hitting clutch HR’s…” comment above
but u are assuming that these folks do/do not have their priorities in order based on a very small sample size of their life.
its literally like me taking a photo of your family smiling and assuming that everyone is happy and gets along
Well you don’t need to see a ball hit the floor to know that dropping it might lead to it coming in contact with that floor…
All anyone is saying is that the kids seems to be showing the signs of not taking this opportunity very seriously and acting as if he has made his way in the world and his work is done….
Can he change it? I will even go so far to say is he WILL change!
The question is will it be in time to get all the glory (and the bucks) that would result if he just thought a little more about what he is doing.
There are LONG LISTS of people with talent and skill who lost thier ability to earn from it because of something they said or did.
It would be a shame if that is what happened to him because he has the potential he just needs to focus on realizing it and his attitude seems to suggest he thinks that isn’t really needed, he thinks he is already all he needs to be….
Thats doesn’t bode well for him JDD you have to admit that.
well when the org has shifted u from SS to 2B to CF …then u spent winter ball in the OF…to only have the lame duck manager now shift u back to the infield…it appears u are being mishandled and possibly set up to fail.
Jordany has to not only outperform his competition by a LARGE margin at the plate…he now has to outperform team favorites Tejada and Murphy….
like i said, he is being set up to fail here…
put Jordany in CF or RF, leave him there…let him adapt and grow…
what Terry is afraid of, is Jordany giving him NO CHOICE but to play him. The same way Jerry Manuel had his idiotic ways of putting folks in his dog house ( Ryan Church ), Terry is doing the same with JV
I wasn’t talking about their priorities in life as a whole (I agree we don’t know much about any of these guys)- I was just talking about priorities when it comes to baseball in this particular situation and your comment about players “developing “convenient amnesia” about the fact that they don’t like Jordany after he does something to help them win.
Certain players and coaches might not like Jordany but when he does do something to help the team win they SHOULD “get amnesia” and forget for a minute that they don’t like him and be happy that he did something to help them win.
WHO THE HEELLL CARES??? Why are you making a huge deal out of nothing. Lets just see Valdespin play the game and hope he turns into something. He has some tools to be a good player.
Hi Kosei,
It’s those attributes being discussed that are interfering with his game and development. We’ve seen this happen with kids all to often. Lastings Miledge didn’t come from the wrong side of the tracks but we saw how he was his own worst enemy as well.
That’s also why so many others with much less talent often stick around in the majors – they make it up with their attitude and hard work.
It’s those attributes being discussed that are interfering with his game and development.
NO
http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/player.cgi?id=valdes001jor
In 2007, at age 19, JV hit .235
In 2008, at age 20, JV hit .285
In 2009, at age 21, JV hit .293
In 2010, at age 22, JV hit .272….this is his first year with TC…
In 2011, at age 23, JV hit .293 with 17 HR..
all the while he has played SS, 2B, CF
so not only has he had to perform offensively, he has had to learn different positions…
We’ve seen this happen with kids all to often.
Yes, switching them around the diamond randomly might hurt their development…
There were a lot of “what can you expect from a kid” comments here in one form or another.
Well, he is already 25. Isn’t that past the point of being an immature HS or college kid, and well into the as adult as you are likely to get phase of life?
To answer your question…you would think so.
No one cares what Valdespin’s fashion choices are.
The problem in a nutshell is: he’s heading towards 25 who is a professional ball player in the public eye, and he’s still on the immature side. Even more so he doesn’t posses a whole lot of common sense. You don’t give him a pass for that, you try and educate him.
He’s still self centered enough to get himself suspended, as recent as winter ball. After he gets suspended, he puts a pic out there of himself with a Marlin ball cap.
On the day he shows up to ST and is asked about that behavior, he puts a dirty joke out there on instagram.
Maybe the old adage is true….you just can’t teach common sense.
Who really cares about the Marlin hat, But this guy does have a lot of Lastings Milledge in him
Unlike most Latino ball players who lie about their age, I think this guy really is 14 years old.
