And being his last year, of course there should be no restrictions. Get as much of your money’s worth as possible at this point.

and the whole WBC is smelling like a facade to me. He gets national pride points for talking about going, and can pin not being able to on the Mets or the WBC for not insuring him or some such. So he looks like a “hero” but still does not go.

and unless he has already been preparing, hard to see him even being ready in time for the WBC.

I also have no issues with bringing him back on the cheap next year but who knows if that is something either side will be interested in.

For now, I hope that he leads the Mets to the playoffs and if not then he is traded for a OF prospect that can grow with the young core.
