2013 New York Mets: Overs & Unders

This guy definitely prefers the under.
As Spring Training gets under way, a few staff writers got together and weighed in on various team and individual achievements.
Here’s MMO’s official Over/Under for the 2013 Mets season:

We’d love to have you give us your own takes so we could have something to compare to.
So what do you think? When will we see Zack Wheeler and Travis d’Arnaud? How many starters will pitch 200 or more innings this season? Which Mets do you expect to see in the All Star Game? Will David Wright hot more than 25 home runs?
We demand to know, damn it! What’s it gonna be, Over or Under?

MMO bans of CORE members 8.5″
LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You guys are just stupid
I will take the over on Wins.
What’s the over/under we hear “The Wilpons have no money” as an excuse for the GMs shortcomings if the Mets get off to an extended bad start.
Lol, No matter what the number is, i’ll take the over…
I will say, the mets won’t win 77 games, DW will not hit 25 HR and if anything, IMHO he’ll struggle due to the contract and all, under pressure he’s a different type of player, Collins will have more meltdowns, ojeda doesn’t melt down, he’s telling the truth most of the time about the FO, I must say, satish (AKA Perseus) ‘s prediction are pretty much in par with mine… Satish, the CORE salute you as always….
People tend to not mention, in fact I don’t think I’ve seen it mentioned here before unless I missed it that Wright can make this contract look real bad right in his first season.
Ever think of that? It is quite possible that he can prove that this contract can be an enormous mistake right away in his first season if his performance is bad or just under par, again. I think that is more likely to happen then a magical return to pre-2009 form.
It’s been well over a year since I got a salute from the Core. Heck I’ve even seen Salty Gary, Hodges14 and Mr. North Jersey get salutes recently. I’m starting to feel a little left out.
So, taking the under on the 8.5 bans was just your way of currying favor?
Didn’t even realize that there was that many Coure members. I guess this takes into account multiple bannings for individuals.
TX, Don’t need much to be a member, all you have to do to be a member is wish for the NEW YORK METS to win and understand is all about the TEAM, not the GM or an overrated player..
Actually Alex, you just summed up what is wrong with the CORE’s view. It is not about the team, it is about the ORGANIZATION. You see, an organization feeds into the team. If you have a good team but a pathetic organization, you end up with a collapse when players move on. Then you are stuck paying top dollar to fill holes in hopes they do not flop. How many times did the Mets have this over the last 2 decades? Each time is the same.
Now, you have a development of an organization. It resulted in pain at the major league level but, in the long run, hopefully will have a better effect. Instead of a 2 or 3 year run and then collapse, we all hope there will be a sustained run like the Braves, Cards, and teams like that put together.
Hell count me as surprised. This is like finding out that there actually is a Santa Claus or a boogeyman in this case I guess.
Yeap, who would’ve thought it, the CORE has more members than the desert…….. SMH
Don’t mistake the voices you hear for actual people.
My voices >>>>>>>>>>>> Sandblasting people,Sandy Lovers & Sabergooners
Not greater than. Just louder.
“Sandy Lovers & Sabergooners” LOL
Care to prove that?
LOL, what am I saying? A member of the “core” proving something?
Never mind, carry on.
That’s not true…. the CORE has salute you a few times. Although, you’re not being held high upon the CORE and you must know why… Sending all of us at one point to the “Drunk Tank” just for posting our opinions didn’t bode well… Not to mention, how you’ve left many others roam free around here insulting us and baiting us without doing nothing didn’t help your cause…
Joe – when I get a salute, then you know you’ve got problems.
I’m writing my “Sabermetrics are So UnClutch” post now in hopes of receiving such acclaim.
There’s not going to be any extra pressure on Wright Alex. He’s been under intense pressure his whole career from top prospect to superstar playing in New York. He’s basically been unofficial captain this year. As much as you would like the pressure to get to him, it’s not happening.
Murphy an AS? I’d take it… And then see him traded for an OF with promise.
Laughed right out loud at the lead in pic and caption.
Over under Mets wins for ’13 you’ve got 76.5. I predicted 77 so I guess I’m a tad over.
(Don’t know how it can be 76.5 anyway…..)
Meltdowns by Bobby O on SNY – 5.5? As someone who always watches the post game show – and sometimes the pre game (if I can catch it), this will be way, way over. Right or wrong, Bobby O has no problem telling you exactly what he feels.
Over/under on ban of ‘Core’ members? LOL….Core should be trademarked here now.
Joe D. – No Wright for All Star in ’13? Expecting a Giants stuffing of the ballet boxes again?
I do have a question Joe. You must be predicting a lot of good teams in the NL this year.
You have the Mets at at least 77 wins and at least 10 games out of the final wild card spot. That’s gonna be close. I think last year the final spot was 88 wins.
over/unders are usually set that way so you can’t have a tie (push).
When I mentioned Vegas should have your 77 wins as under or over I wasn’t thinking of whoopee.
The key answers are over 76.5 wins and within 9.5 games of the final WC (though unfortunately not THE final WC in all likelihood).
Due to a mostly young roster, the Mets do have the upside for some modest improvement overall – and the OF & bullpen production almost can´t be worse than it was in 2012, so under normal circumstances, these two areas will be improved anyway – be it at a modest level…
So what do you think? When will we see Zack Wheeler and Travis d’Arnaud? How many starters will pitch 200 or more innings this season? Which Mets do you expect to see in the All Star Game? Will David Wright hot more than 25 home runs?
D’arnaud comes up in May. Wheeler right after the all star break, I will say little over August 5. No one pitches 200 innings because well some might be traded. Even if Santana and Marcum are not traded I see 180s 190s.
David Wright I All StAr Game and under 25 dingers. More than 76 wins.
I think, hope, that baring injury Niese gets to 200 this year.

Will Johan be a Met 8/1 – Yes
Metro, you really think wright will hit more than 25 HR this year and be an all star??? That’s awfully migthy and predictable of you…
22 HRS for Wright and yes he will be an all star…name recognition means a great deal.
Name recognizition??? He had a superb first half last year and barely made it… If your team is winning helps a lot as well believe it or not. Unless you’re arod in a losing team, very few people vote for above avg guys on losing team to the all star games..
To start, a super first half wouldnt be out of character for Wright. I peg him at 22 HRs, 14 of them could come in the first half with a fall off after the AS break (again in character for him).
Also, look around the national league. Who are the best 3B? Sandoval, Zimmerman, Wright, Headley, and maybe, Ramirez (Breweres). 3 of them play in small markets. All things being equal, if it is close, Wright will get the nod over Headley and Ramirez (and most likely ZImmerman).
Of course, if you believe that Wright will be a total bomb trying to live up to the new contract, then this discussion is for naught. Personally, I think Wright will be as consistent as always, .300/20/90-100 overall with huge splits between halves.
