Remember those days well. Had just moved back to NY from my first foray in the Southwest, and would buy Upper Level seats and move down as the game progressed. Things were pretty dismal, but the media climate was different, so it wasn’t as in-your-face as it is today. Despite the losing, it was an enjoyable team, albeit several pieces short for any kind of success.

Like Kranepool 17 I remember the game like it was yesterday. There was reason to hope with Stearns, Flynn, Mazzilli and Henderson. They had potential, but none of them had the career that was expected. They were bad Met years, but they were also fun years with very cheap ticket prices and an empty Shea.
