Raissman: Bobby V. Coming To SNY?

Is Bobby Valentine about to bring his high-wire act to the Mets Pregame show on SNY this season? That’s what some sources are telling Bob Raissman of the Daily News.
MLB sources say SportsNet New York brass has reached out to Valentine to discuss a possible studio role on Mets telecasts.
Valentine, who managed the Mets (1996-2002), would be featured on about 20 games, mostly marquee matchups like the Subway Series. He would be seen on SNY’s new pre-pregame show. Valentine would also fill in for Bobby Ojeda, SNY’s No. 1 studio analyst, on his off days.
Sources said the fact SNY execs have already contacted Valentine means the Mets organization has approved the idea of giving their controversial former manager a TV platform.
Raissman says that the final hurdle to a deal between Valentine and SNY will come down to money.
Valentine recently signed a deal with NBC Sports Radio to become a part-time co-host and regular baseball contributor.

If they do they will live to regret it….
You serious? Bobby V would be awesome telling it like it is before the game, and Bobby O telling it like it is after the game. BRING THIS SHIT ON!!!!
I didn’t say I would live to regret it…I said THEY as in the TEAM!
Only benefit they might get is they will have someone to trash Terry if they decide to replace him….
Uh oh.
Oh man, this would be FANTASTIC!
I hope it happens but I’ll believe it when I see it. I thought Wilpon and Valentine hated each others guts.
That will be just another reason ,I don’t watch It.
The Bobby V hate is astounding…
I love the guy. The Mets haven’t had a manager as good as him since his firing and before that it went all the way to Davey Johnson.
you said it!
Although Willie Randolph doesn’t get the credit he deserves and it’s a mystery why he isn’t managing somewhere else I agree that Bobby V has been the best since Davey. But now we have ungrateful second-guessing clowns around here who have an affinity for hating ex-Met coaches/executives who’ve had the most success and have given the people their greatest joys as Mets fans. It’s like a reverberating effect through time. Some people are still just sooooo bitter from some real gut-wrenching, heartbreaking games through Mets history that they just cannot accept that the team had chances, instead the channel that lingering bitterness towards executives and coaches who had a hand in building those teams.
Of course they hate bobby V. Team won. Team went to WS. Under the new rules of Met fandom winning is bad, Fred’s wallet is all that matters.
I love Bobby V. and would love for this to happen. I thought he got hosed when he was canned. That being said, Bobby V. is definitely a scorched type of guy, maybe Jeffy needs to hear some of that. I’m all for this but I doubt it will happen.
I’m with ya Bayonne. Bobby was and is an amazing manager. Problem is, in today’s game, players make too much money to let a manager have too much power over them. He walked into a mess in Boston, tried to show authority, and when the players balked the FO withered under the pressure and hung him out to dry. He tried to lite a fire under Youk’s ass and ended up with half the team, led by Pedroia, demanding ownership oust him.
In NY, the Wilpons fired him instead of Phillips. I think it was a big mistake.
Shea,
I couldn’t agree with you more. Bobby got a raw deal, even before he was fires Phillips wasn’t allowing him in meetings. It was crazy. The Rex Ryan situation reminds me of that a bit. Difference is, I’m not a Jets’ fan so it doesn’t sting the way the Bobby V. Thing did.
Bobby V. is the man. Didn’t like him too much when he was in the booth but him on a pre/post-game basis would be a perfect fit for him to be loose lipped as he usually is.
Y is this a post?
Who cares if he comes to SNY?
His outfielders remind me of the current outfielders. Maybe the current outfielders are a bit better. I love the guy.
On-air analyst or color commentary is fine. But I would never want BV back as manager. He is a magnet for controversy, whether it’s with management, other teams, his own players, or the umpires. He was fine in 2000, but his time as manager has passed.
