You don’t stick around in an organization for nearly 35 years without doing something right, especially in a market like New York. Imagine handling the 86 Mets, the “Worst team money could buy” and countless other controversies over the year.

Jay is the best of his craft.

But that’s because the only time most Met fans see him is when the shit hits the fan. It’s his job to be the cleaner and then tackle the aftermath. I honestly feel sorry for him sometimes when I see things go wrong.

Jay does a great job. It’s not his fault if the owners hire the GMs who help make it a circus. He has a thankless job with enough stress that would send most people into a fetal position. While most team’s PR heads last 2-3 years and bow out, Jay has handled more debacles than anyone can shake a stick at and has done so with dignity and class.
