I love Murph – even call him “Marvelous Murph” in affectionate homage to our original one Marv Thronberry. However, I think Marvelous said the same thing last winter as well.

Part his enthusiastic nature which makes him the hustling ball player that he is and part being a member of the company he works for. Also, it would not sit well with his teammates if he said anything negative publicly which no player should.

2012 – Miguel Cabrera. I get the argument that David is “better” overall, but his second half fade kills it for me. Oh and Miggy won the triple crown.

Last 8 years, that’s a bold statement. Again, maybe the argument might be most consistent star 3B. but in those years, Alex Rodriguez, Miguel Cabrera, Evan Longoria, Adrian Beltre, and Chipper Jones probably don’t argue with your assessment either.

Wilmer Flores isnt ready for the Majors this year. Still in AA & Toby Hyde says he is a weak 2nd baseman & is better at 3rd or 1st base. His range is bad. So Long time fan is out of base on his comment.

He traded Koch for Hinske. Hinske won ROY. Koch’s career ended shortly after… traded Kielty for Ted Lilly, acquired Lyle Overbay, signed AJ Burnett, he acquired Edwin Encarnacion who I believe hit over 40 HR in 2012 for the Blue Jays?

I’m not saying he did an incredible job but I’m also not naive enough to agree that he didn’t do 1 good thing.

His worst move everybody pretends is Vernon Wells, but that was the owner. I know it for a fact and it’s been well reported that the owner wanted to spend $ and the deal was done with Rogers Communications.

His worst move was letting Chris Carpenter go

this is just pure exaggeration. baseball prospectus (and other places) said mets farm is top 10 and its only gonna get better as these pithers hit double a. baseball america was the only place that ranked it low.

Not sure where the exaggeration is unless you’re saying the Mets have improved and will be better in 2013. As for the Mets having a top ten system in all of baseball, I feel very confident saying that is not the consensus in baseball. Also, if you look at our young talent (farm system and MLB players), there is no way that you can say it is better than anyone in our division not named the Miami Marlins. If you can, then exaggerate away and good luck.

8 Whole years as Toronto GM and thats what you call doing right as a GM. 1 Player whom only started producing the year after Ricciardi left thanks to advice from Cito Gaston and hitting coach Dwayne Murphy

Regardless thats not doing something right getting lucky with 1player in 8yrs as a GM of a MLB ball club…How about doing a good job as a gm putting together a winner. Now I see why you love Alderson so much and defend him with such vigor……you dont view winning as a success. If Alderson hits it with just one of these prospects you’ll consider his time here a success…

Murphy is just towing the company line and seems a bit naive. He should wake up and realize his time to remain Met is likely short once the inexpensive Wilmer Flores is ready to replace him at second which could be sometime this season.

IMO, Cabrera and Beltre has better seasons. And it could be argued that Headley had a better season too with 31 HR 115 RBI .286BA, in addition to playing good defense at 3rd.

Well, last year, Wright was the best 3bman in Baseball and over the past 8 seasons he has been as well. Now, he wasn’t in 2011 and one can debate whether he’ll be over the next 6+ years. But for now, I don’t see any 3bmen in the game who are any better than Wright overall.

David Wrights skillset of “a_ _ kissing” seems to have rubbed off on Old Murphy…guess he saw what happened with RA when he voiced his real opinion.

He couldve easily stated oh he doesnt know about those things and leaves improving the team up to the Front office.
