  Really an odd move by the Mets. Sometimes people take promos way, way too serious. People that don’t even care about the game or intend on going will have a say and odds are they will vote against anything the establishment (mets) wanted in the first place.

  Geezz. Mark DeRosa signed by the Jays for 775K.
  We certainly could have used a quality utility INF/OF for money in that neighborhood.

    At 37 years old didn’t DeRosa hit .188 for the Nationals last year? Hasn’t played over 70 games since 2009… if I’m getting 2008 DeRosa I’m happy, 2013 DeRosa, I am not really too concerned about

  Completely off topic, but I have no choice, Rob…

  Why would two different people email me about why they were placed in moderation and do so with a fake email?

  How am I supposed to reply to them when my replies keep getting bounced back to me?

  And yet I’m sure they are siting somewhere painting me as the bad guy…

  I wish there was someway I didn’t have to spend two hours a day just editing, deleting, moderating, and dealing with comments or emails about comments. If you could see the emails I get every hour just regarding comments, you wouldn’t believe it.

  I’m starting to understand why my colleague at MetsBlog just woke up one day and said screw it. Now you can say virtually anything you want over there with over 75% of the comments bashing the site, writers, readers, whatever. Cerrone was right, nothing I say or do will stop the insanity, a lesson I’m learning far too late. He told me to just write for my own enjoyment and let the threads become whatever they will be. As long as I have my disclaimer the site is covered.

  So the choice becomes just make MMO a “read only” site, or let the comment threads be shot to hell? What a choice…

    You have done a successful job building MMO to the quality site that it is. My two cents would be take a 3 strikes your out rule. 1st offense you said an email warning and a temporary ban that requires an email reply back recognizing they been warned before you un-ban them. This would hopefully force users to use legit emails. 2nd offense a 1 month ban or whatever time you deem justified. 3rd offense a ban for life.

    Your too nice Joe D and your niceness from my perspective is being taken advantage of.

    Joe D, part of it was your fault as well, you also started taking sides wth people here just because they write articles or exchange emails with you, it’s all about equal opportunity, the reason why MB suffered for a good period of time was because people were getting banned left and right, there was a guy who got banned for saying “Slow news day” when there was an article about wright’s toe, it became a joke and cerrone along with that other DBag they got there started abusing their power so many people got fed up and left, at one point there was the same 8-10 people commenting, tihis became the best site because of it, as many people came from there, if anything you should be glad they became the way they did otherwise who knows if you would’ve had as many people as you do.
    However, this site is starting the same path as MB, banning people just because, many of us have complain to you about certain people here (including writers) who insult, instigate and attack us the same way supposedly we do, yet you pick certain people to ban to make an example instead of being consistant, also, the problem with the shoutbox became an even greater issue because somehow you choose to take the biggest instigator in the site and make him the “moderartor” and all it did was riled people off even more, as it should’ve been seen he started taking sides and it was the group of guys he hated that got the raw deal of him being the moderator, not only that, but many of us ask you if he was jesseP and you lied about it, knowing all the emails we were sending you you choose to ignore each and every single one of them, imho you lost the respect of a few people here when they saw you lied about the whole thing, while i agree our behavior is not the best there is, we are all adults here, and if anything we used to get along, bayonne who was maybe the worst guy was liked by many people because he knows his baseball, to me the insults, attacks, the baiting and instigation increased once alderson was appointed GM, why i say that? Because groups started being created, you know, the whole saber vs the non saber guys. i love this site and i’ve been part of this site since it almost began, when it started it was all baseball and guys talking about how to improve the team etc, now? it’s how this GM is better than others GM and that’s created many problems here, i do apologize for my behavior, but many times you have come across as unfair as you can be to your most loyal guys in here who are maniac, me and bayonne just because you wanna support your “writers” especially jesseP, who is the worst person in this site in terms of what he’s done and said. be it as it may, it’s your site and i guess we have to abide by your rules and desicions even though they’re not right or fair.

  So last year it was about Mets fans crying wanting the mets to PAINT THE OUTFIELD WALLS…..Now its this crap about Banner Day REALLY!?!?!

  WHO CARES!!!

  Have you seen the team they plan to put on the field I could honestly care less about some drawings on a sheet…that stuff should be for the KIDS but the adults love the spotlight and want to be seen walking on the field….Id rather see a kids made banner that some bozo professional artist which there are a lot of during banner day

  Mets fans care about everything that has NOTHING to do with the actual game on the field….

  How about these same few set up a vote who wants to reschedule going to the games til the mets show they will reinvest in the team rather than cut payroll while keeping the ticket prices high

    Maybe it certainly does show some indication that they identify Attendance as a problem and made a move to protect what is usually a very highly attended game as far as fans go….

    Partly because it is one of those few Family Participation type promotions….
