And better than coming in having to fight for one, and maybe ending up in the pen instead.

Plus, odds are someone else will get hurt (DL or LT) along the way, so jobs have a way of opening up.

Perhaps the better move would be to find someone who is wanting to be a starter but has been used as a pen arm wherever he was and this way if Wheeler does knock him out of the rotation you have an arm to add to a pen that has pretty much been untouched by anything but attrition this offseason.

And if you can’t find that I say we might as well start Mejia and give him a test and if it doesn’t work out throw him in the pen.
