You forget the scenario where he Platoons with Duda in LF I suppose…
He does hit Righty and would at least be the Hairston replacement only with worse glove.

Not saying we should pursue just pointing out that until Duda gets that bat back he is as much a platoon candidate as anyone.

Scott Hairston’s offense will be no small feat to replace. Mets already had one of the worst producing outfields in a decade. It’s hard to imagine how much worse it will get without Hairston’s bat. Plus any outfielder the Mets get who accounts for less than 20-25 homers will be standing still and not an upgrade.

hey D. Meeker – the problem with Delmon Young really is that he’s a DH. And when he isn’t a DH, he’s a bad LF so signing him essentially moves Duda back to RF and you have 2 defensive liabilities in the corner with potentially an inexperienced CF.

He has power that shines in big spots, no doubt about it. But I don’t really see how he’s a good fit for this team

Delmon Young might be able to be had at a less than market value contract. He is certainly someone the Mets should be looking at.
