A’s players, who together form one of baseball’s lowest payrolls, have voted to donate one playoff share — a total of $34,325.16 – to various charities. The donation will be split between the MLB Players Trust, UMPS CARE, Hurricane Sandy relief efforts, Oakland A’s Community Fund, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Bay Area, United Way of the Bay Area, Donnie Moore Ministries and Craig Breslow’s Strike 3 Foundation.

In a release, A’s player rep Jerry Blevins said, “During the playoff share meetings, we decided as a team that we wanted to give back to the community by donating one full share to various charities that are near and dear to our hearts.”

You’re absolutely right Alderson is doing nothing to help the team. Mets need help but it doesn’t look like any is coming soon. Mets are doomed for the years to come so be ready for a few more consecutive losing seasons. Idk what Sandy is doing, but it better be good. And yes Sandy, we are “punting in ’13.” LOL Yankee fans are worried about their old team when we haven’t made the playoffs in years!!!! Give me a break! I hope I’m wrong but I’m sorry it looks like the Mets aren’t going to be relevant for awhile.

LMAO….You realize after Davey and the Nats acquired Izturis off of waivers Aug. 6th they put him back on waivers after those 5 games on Aug. 17th!!!!!!

lol….So much for that spot starter huh???

Besides he won that gold glove years ago in 2004 he hasnt been healthy in years. And we rather him over Ronny Cedeno whom is younger and much better defensively at this point in there careers. Ronny is also coming off of a very good season with us defensively as well as offensively.

Bad argument Jessep, you wouldve lost this one badly if this were a courtroom. Stop defending Sandys moves just to defend him. If he makes a good move i’ll give hi credit for it…He hasnt besides the Wheeler deal since he wasnt gonna re-sign Beltran anyway…shouldve done the same with Reyes but i digress

Mets won’t be adding any Upton’s or Napoli’s for the foreseeable future so expect crappy play for the foreseeable future. This franchise is so financially screwed that it’ll hold them back from contention. I hope this isn’t true but Alderson isn’t being aggressive at all. With Pagan and B.J. off the board we gotta hope for a Ross/Ludwick signing.

Where did i say i wanted either??? although i wouldve gladly taken Napoli to be our catcher he’s not great defensively but wayyyyy better than thole behind the plate and an infinitely better hitter. Upton well any major league outfielder would do….

Those teams are improving by filling their needs and they arent waiting around til all available talent is gone to do it….Theyre recognizing whom they want and targeting them….We are p-footing around with players already under contract Wright, Dickey…i dont expect Alderson to improve this team via trades or any other method
