I would trade Duda in a heartbeat but not now. His value is at an all-time low. The plan is probably to play him regularly and hope that he builds value back up. The time to trade him was last offseason as far as I’m concerned, after the stud second half. I guess maybe he was their fallback plan for 1B.

I think we found out the answer to that question when they tried to go for it last summer with the countless moves they made, piling on tons of backloaded contracts….only for them to not only fail, but watch their rivals win their 2nd WS in 3 years.

Jon Niese is still developing. The upside is huge. 2012 for Niese was step in the right direction, having lasted a whole season without fading, and staying healthy. The key he says was not overworking his fitness program in second half and getting more benefit from his workouts since his nasal surgery given easier breathing. I think we’ll be seeing low or sub 3.00 era’s from him and 15 or more wins on ongoing basis.

Sanchez is more established having 50 more starts than Niese and two years older but probably hasn’t reached his ceiling despite the added experience.

If Rangers get Greinke, Royals get Annabel, Jays get Shields…there’s still 1 loser out there–the Dodgers. They don’t have the farm the Royals, Rangers, or Jays have, but we might get to pick some good prospects from them in desperation..

Trout never hit more than 11hrs in the Minors. He hit 11 in the TX League in 2011 in 353ABs. Myers hit 13 in the TX league in 2012 in 134BS. Sometimes when stats aren’t what they seem–it runs both ways!

Because the games in April, May and June count just as much. Don’t win then and not much worry about September being meaningful.

because at the deadline there will likely be even more competition after him.

because odds are the Mets sign him to the team friendly extension before the season if they don’t trade him now.

because if he has another (as in 4th straight) very good to great year, the Mets will tender him and you will lose a draft pick. Plus, in FA, more competition for his services.

Because if you trade for him prior to the season, you can tender him and get the draft pick.

He is 28, a little better than Jon Niese, and he wont cost them Wil Myers. Neither pitcher is anything more than a solid starter who gives a team a chance to win every fifth day
