That is what I felt when responding to Peter. It’s all business now and those who don’t remember what it was like when not having to be prompted by a public address system to chant “lets go mets” might not understand what we are speaking about – having something that allows us to hang onto a childish innocence – which was what going to a met game used to be all about.

Glad to know I am not alone with those feelings.

Decency doesn’t stand for anything today. Those who want to look at baseball as a business are right, but it doesn’t have to sink to such lows.

It’s not just the R.A. trade but what the trade is representative of that makes this is a sad day in Met history for even if the trade does work out in our favor (good chance it will in the long term) the manner in which this organization has severed all ties to what was once a glorious and wonderful franchise. There was a heart back then and for some of us, it is how that “business” is conducted which still means something.

As far as my post is concerned, I never intended it to be confrontational, nor did I try to take away anyone’s right to have an opinion. I don’t know where you saw that. You must have read into that one. I thought my message was very straight forward and simple; I find it very sad that the track record of this club has left some of us with such negative feelings towards EVERYTHING that the organization now does. It has turned some fans into extremists. And if you know anything about history, extremism is not a good thing. It strips away ones ability to clearly evaluate, assess and be objective on issues. This is because the negative conclusion is already decided based alone on where the move is coming from, and not a thourough assessment of the move itself.

I work hard at not becoming an extremist and try to carefully evaluate each move for what it is. I have no expectations of changing anyone’s views or opinions on anything. We are what we are, and it is what it is.

LOL! Apparently they cant do anything right by the WHOLE FAN BASE…lol….have you seen there win-loss record the past couple years….have you seen the empty seats at the stadium as well??? Ever heard of the Madoff ponzi scheme, or how about the slandering of beloved Mets players….its so much more

So it seems Joe D. shouldnt have his “OWN OPINION”…He should follow the herd who blindly praises every move Sandy makes good or bad….

NEWS FLASH!!!!! Mets fans no longer follow the…. “YA GOTTA BELIEVE” mantra they want follow the “WE GOTTA SEE IT TO BELIEVE IT” mantra…and all we’ve seen is terrible teams setup for failure and an organization that doesnt show it wants to win.

After reading your latest articles and posts today I find it sad learning just how much of a contrarian you really are with EVERY move this organization makes. Whether its payroll decisions, player personnel moves, on field, off field, it makes no difference. This organization cannot do a thing right by you. If someone in the FO farted and it smelled like perfume, you’d say why was it so loud. I find the negativity very disturbing, especially at a time when it appears they’ve taken a bold move (albeit risky) with this trade. Remember, just as signing Wright didn’t improve the team, neither would extending Dickey. Sometimes I wonder if you have another agenda.

Maybe I’m crazy but isn’t that what every business should strive for……to turn a profit and be in the black? But yet you say it like you’re mocking or rediculing them. Do you really believe that slashing payroll is the only thing they’re working on? Isn’t this trade an indication that they’re working on putting a competetive team on the field moving forward? Don’t you think they know the only way they’ll really start turning profits is by winning in this town and are working toward that goal?
