Lets get this straigh I have no issue with Sizemore himself as a player provided the money is right...

But he hits Lefty and the truth is we need a RH hitting OFer, preferably someone with some pop not another lefty as we have more than enough of them....

I'm not convinced Hairston had more than a Career year for him last year and while it's possible to get similar provided we protect him vs RHP the way we did early in the year, I'm just not sure he is worth it. If he comes cheap on a two year deal (2-3 Mil per which at that is prob too much) then I won't complain too much.

Time to shop Flores now to someone who has a decent RHH OF (RF or CF) and I while I prefer a power hitter at RF I would be happy if we got a CF who would be a better leadoff hitter than Tejada. Then I move Tejada to #2, Move Murphy back to #3 or #6 and get some protection for the power guys. it will balance the lineup better and might even lead to Murphy increasing his power numbers now that he won't be concerned with batting at the top of the order.

Sizemore is fine on a minor league deal, but he's not really a "fit" nor a solution, but rather a luxury that may it may not contribute sometime in June-ish(?).

Is it possible to have a 6 man OF rotation?!? Isn't that all Hairston really is? Can we not see the team spend a little more for Ross who can play everyday?

As of now the team consists of this:
Buck
Recker
Ike
Murph
Tejada
Wright
Turner
Duda
Kirk
Cowgill
Hoffman
Baxter
Some random middle infielder
Santana
Niese
Harvey
Gee
Mejia?
Francisco
Parnell
Edgin
Familia
?
?
?

Can Ross, Young and 3BP guys be had for 10 mil? Can Ross and something better than Young + 3BP guys be had for 10 mil?

Sizemore won't even be available until mid season due to micro fracture surgery on his knee (Carlos Beltran anyone?) in September. And we all remember how poorly Carlos played in his 1/2 season in 2010 coming back from that surgery. The interest by the Mets here only makes sense if it's a minor league deal with a low base salary once he makes the team after rehab. They need outfielders "NOW", not in July. Maybe they think he'll sign really cheap and they can get someone else (please don't let Colin Cowgill be the ONLY other OF pickup!) in the meanwhile.

On a somewhat related topic, how is it they now only have $10 million to spend? They haven't even spent anything yet this winter, save for the extra $1 million picked up on John Buck's contract vs. R.A. Dickey. What happened to the money saved by deferring part of Jason Bay's 2013 salary? Or to the money David Wright agreed to defer off of his 2013 salary? That alone would add up to at least $10 million, I think. Not to mention that, supposedly, Jeff Wilpon said that they were going to give Alderson a budget increase to spend this winter. I know there are some arbitration eligible players (Parnell and Murphy prominently) due raises, but those raises won't be THAT restricting on what Alderson can spend. Am I the only one who smells a rat here?

If this team goes on the field, David Wright gets traded willingly this summer and the Wilponzis found a way to reduce his 2013 salary from $16m to $8m and then to $4. Pure genius, Sandy Auctioneer!!!

Does it really matter if we sign an outfielder or not? At best we are going to be a fourth place team. The worst case scenario is we break out "Basement Bertha" I think Sandy will do just enough to make it look like we are not totally forfeiting the 2013 season.

Make no mistake about it. This is going to be a hard team to watch. There is still time! Find yourself a new hobby for the 2013 season.
