Reds Re-Sign Ryan Ludwick
According to John Fay of the Cincinnati Enquirer, the Reds have re-signed OF Ryan Ludwick pending a physical.
Contract details have not been released, but Ludwick had a two-year offer from the Reds believed to be in the $13 to $14 million range.
Ludwick, 34, revived his career with Reds posting a slash of .275/.346/.531 with 26 home runs and 80 RBI in 422 at-bats this season.
The Mets were said to have interest in Ludwick, but never made an offer or met with his agents in Nashville.
All together now, sigh…

Ok.
This is who I would have preferred instead of bringing back Scott Hairston. Now it comes down to Cody Ross who wants 3 years or Hairston. I’d rather have Ross.
Not that I wanted Ludwick, however, I too don’t know of any other team interested in a player never making an offer or even meeting with his agent.
Guess because Ludwick’s people never approached the Mets, he didn’t want to be on the team anymore than Jose when his agent didn’t volunteer an offer to Sandy as well. After all, didn’t Sandy recently say people have to approach him (sic)
Cody Ross is worth the two years + an option year (or maybe even three years) at $7 million a year, I think. He will supply the power in the OF we need in RF, and really tears up LH pitchers. Spend some of “that” money, Sandy!
Cody at 2/$14 mil is good. If not, resign Hairston. We know he cake rake against lefties, hit 20 playing home games in Citifield, and back up CF in a pinch. Spend the remaining $$ on CF, C, and backend pen.
Ok lets be honest here…
When they say the Mets had Interest lets be honest and realize they mean if no one else makes an offer and we get him for half price from now on ok?
This is one guy who for 15M increase in Payroll (and maybe not even that much!) Next year could actually be worth watching…
He’s not great but he hits Right handed, Plays the OF and would have fit two of the biggest needs this team has…
Power and OF.
Joe D, still waiting to see in exactly what the mets will spend the $21 million you said they have available to spend….
They have to spend it? Even if there isn’t $21 million worth of talent where they need help?
Here we go… One of sandy’s biggest apologist is here to defend his almighty leader. again, you were one of the people who was celebrating how big of a move was trading for Krod because it gaves us payroll flexibility and we can spend that money saved up on FA, since that didn’t happen and you along with others were taken for fools now you’re going the other way around. the excuse is what now? no good FA? You’re something else you know. My point was to JOE D not you that the mets got money saved on david wright’s contract extension, but that money will likely be used to pay jason bay’s salary for the year. THe extension of DW was obvious a financial move, not a baseball move.
It was a simple question. Can you answer it without trying to insult me?
“you were one of the people who was celebrating how big of a move was trading for Krod because it gaves us payroll flexibility and we can spend that money saved up on FA”
Was that what I said? Are you sure?
” My point was to JOE D not you ”
Then don’t post on a public message board. there is this wonderful technology called email that will allow you to ask Joe questions that other people won’t see.
Don’t be mad because 3 years later we were right and you and the other sabergooners who thought this guy was gonna make things better in flushing has bombed out. Again, you have been one of sandy’s biggest supporters, where have you been as of late? Good to know you admit it how pathetic your precious GM has been..
More insults instead of being able to answer a very simple straight forward question.
And don’t be mad because the internet confuses you. There are lots of places that can teach you how email works.
“Again, you have been one of sandy’s biggest supporters, where have you been as of late? Good to know you admit it how pathetic your precious GM has been..”
1) It’s December and I really don’t care about all the silly rumors and such, there isn’t much to talk about.
2) This place has gotten ridiculously negative and I don’t find that a big draw. I prefer that my distractions from the real world be fun and positive.
3) I’m spending more time discussing football and getting together projects at work for 2013.
4) I’ve got far heavier concerns than a bunch of grown men playing with a ball. Like the fact that my dad has been hooked up to a ventilator since Thanksgiving because his lungs caught an infection after his colon cancer surgery. So between spending time in the hospital, taking care of my mom, and making sure my own life stays together, you’ll have to forgive me if I don’t put a high priority on dealing with your insults.

You said the same thing in 2011-2012
2) This place has gotten ridiculously negative and I don’t find that a big draw. I prefer that my distractions from the real world be fun and positive”
Really? So now you’re saying that after you were proven to be wrong? Now this place is negative? Or is it negative for reason we saw forecoming?
3) I’m spending more time discussing football and getting together projects at work for 2013″
Lmao, didn’t know you know about football, and good for you that now you have a job..

Well, i am very sorry to hear about your dad. and i’ll forgive you if that’s what you’d like
“You said the same thing in 2011-2012″
Ya, because it is true. I’ll talk about things when they happen and I have a strong enough opinion.
“Really? So now you’re saying that after you were proven to be wrong? Now this place is negative? Or is it negative for reason we saw forecoming?”
No, I’m saying this because you and others get to lie up and down the place and there are other places that don’t need to call doom and gloom at every rumor that may or may not be true. I said from the beginning we’d be in for a tough immediate future. I see the improvements. Why should I run around the in the same circles with people who are more interested in declaring themselves winner of an internet fight than being Mets fans or dealing in facts?
“Lmao, didn’t know you know about football,”
I know enough
“and good for you that now you have a job..”
What do you mean now?
“Well, i am very sorry to hear about your dad. and i’ll forgive you if that’s what you’d like”
You are just a monument to not getting it. What I’d like is to be able to have a baseball conversation without a bunch of recta trying to derail it with their grand declarations and internet tough guy acts.
Sorry to hear about your dad, Donal. I wish him a speedy recovery.
Wow, sorry to hear about your Dad Donal. I Hope & Pray he gets better.
Sorry to hear about your Dad, Donal.
Dealing with my Dad and the same colon cancer as well.
Hope he steadily gets better and is home for the Xmas holidays.
Fact of the matter is that most teams never had a chance with Ludwick and that he might have taken less money to stay in Cincy from what I’m reading. He would have been a nice addition, but ultimately players will sign where they feel most happy or for geographical reasons.
I like Cody Ross but isn’t he a pretty rough outfielder (I thought that was the scoop on him)? Whoever we sign will be playing a lot, that certainly needs to be considered. Another thing I don’t like is, he was a bit of a Met killer, those usually come to the Mets to forget how to play.
Hi Donal and SRT,
Sorry to hear about both your dads coming down with the illnesses but am sure that everything will turn out fine for them both. Know what you both are going through right now for been there with my parents and wife as well – and because of that know you both will be sharing many more holiday seasons together with “pop”.
