they just went to the NLCS to a game 7…made a bunch of extra cash…with a payroll lower than it was in their WS year…

the cards have been banking extra cash for a LONG TIME

unless they are planning to make a run at David Price or King Felix or Doc ( all 3 may be free-agents next year )

I dont see how they are financially constrained

And he’s 34…time for a 4 – 5 yr deal? Is he an ace? He’s a very attractive option for teams seeking SP, but given his age, inconsistent record, and agent–he’s got to be comped versus others in the market.
i think we have 2 very attractive targets for teams seeking pitchers also. We’ll see.

None. Nada. Zip. They have Wainwright, Carp, Westbrook, Miller, Rosenthal, Kelley, Lynn, and Martinez at tge ASB. Plus Garcia if he’s healthy, granted that’s unlikely. Plus Wacha is about a year out and they love Jenkins. They signed Westbrook on a one year deal as insurance. There’s no way they were interested in a multi year deal on Lohse. It would have clogged their system after 2013 and they weren’t that fond of him to begin with. I live in St Louis, there was never any discussion about re-signing him at any point during the season or afterwards. Every fan I talk to isn’t bothered by this.
