The cost for tenured SP even crappy one is too expensive- 6.5MM per for Liriano who is a has-been. Its not like the Mets need another SP all year- just really until Wheeler’s Super 2 status is no longer an issue. Just piece something together until then with Hefner and or McHugh- better to spend that money on an everyday player- RF or CF.

Marcum will get a 2 year $20 million deal somewhere, maybe more. Look at the guy’s numbers compared to these guy’s like blanton, Liriano, Iwakumo etc.

I don’t think the Mets have the money for Marcum. if Loriano can get 7 mil a year and 2 for 14, Marcum can get 2 for 20mil, and the mets didn’t even want to give 2 years 20 million to a fan favorite CY Young winner.

The money being paid to losing pitchers is astonishing. I’m sure if/when Alderson said the Mets might be interested in Liriano, he was thinking of maybe a 2-year deal for $3 or $4 million at most. That’s also probably about what he’d pay for an outfielder.
