Upending a rotation that will lead a team of players incapable of contending is a problem now?

Sandy has played this whole situation perfectly despite your numerous cries otherwise. He’s taking a pitcher who will never be at a higher value, and turning him into a future cornerstone of the team at a premium position.

Joe D, I really hope you write a post about how wrong you were that no team would be willing to part with difference maker for RA. Toronto is about to trade a huge prospect, and top catching prospect, plus another yet to be determined player for RA. Sure, they’ll be a throw in, but he’s dealt a 38 yr old pitcher and gotten a player back that will be under control for years.

Because the Mets can’t afford to spend, this was nesessary. Since they have excess pitching this was possible. To just rant that Sandy screwed this whole situation up by simply waiting for a market to come to him was short sighted.

I remember reading that no one was returning his calls…I guess Toronto did, right? See, this is what happens when ownership pockets 200+ million in dividends on a loan using their tv station as collateral. They end up in debt, unable to compete in free agency, and then trades are your only option when your farm system isn’t feeding your team. Instead of aiming your sights at Alderson and still trying to save face with jabs about missing out on pitchers as mediocre as Lannan, maybe you should give him a well deserved pat on the back for giving the Mets hope for the future.

They couldn’t afford to retain Beltran and RA, and he’s turning that into D’Anaurd and Wheeler. That’s what good Gm’s do. Face it folks, this is the Mets now, get used to it and be happy on days like this cause this is what is their future. No money equals build from within and when you’re handed a player like Travis you rejoice.

Stop the Sandy bashing and the I told you so’s; it makes you look dumb on days like today.

Me too. Both would have helped the Mets more than the Phillies in my opinion. These guys are just fluff for the Phils but would have served more vital roles with Mets.

If Sandy Alderson signed a guy who couldn’t keep a big league job last year and a reliever who needed rib surgery and has battled shoulder issues into his mid 30′s the headline here would not read “Mets bolster pitching staff.”

Special report, Lannan is not very good, Adams is coming off surgery and is now 34. When J.P Howell signs elsewhere then write something. That’s the bullpen arm they should be chasing. That’s when I get angry.

You can only imagine how ticked off I am right now at the Mets failing to sign Lannan. Only $2.5 million it took for him to sign. Seriously Sandy? You held interest in this guy since Spring Training and didn’t go for him now while he was for the taking? If he has a big year like I think he will, your loss.

The option vests if Adams appears in 120 games from 2013-2014 with at least 60 appearances in 2014, according to ESPN’s Jayson Stark. Tim Brown of Yahoo! Sports reports (on Twitter) the option is worth $6.5MM.
