Hi Fonzie,

So Beltran was giving us BS because he waived his no trade clause?

As far as the rest, you never responded to the question I posed to you a few weeks back - why are you the only one saying things like:

"You actually made up stories about Aldersons early years in Oakland among other things and then lied about many people agreeing with you when it was only one person that agreed with you. You not only lie you exaggerate."

Many disagree with me and have really rebutted roughly to back up their alternate point of views but nobody - nobody except you - calls me a liar.

That is why you are the Lone Ranger.

If Beltran wanted to stay he would've never waived his no trade clause. He would've said I'm not waiving it now lets try and negotiate a deal cause I want to remain a Met. Just because he said he wanted to stay doesn't mean that's what he rally wanted. What do you think he's going to say I don't want to be here, get me outta here? Please. Met fans were hard enough on the guy. They would've hated him even more.

Oh and nobody ever wrongly accused you of lying. You actually made up stories about Aldersons early years in Oakland among other things and then lied about many people agreeing with you when it was only one person that agreed with you. You not only lie you exaggerate.

Hi Donal,

Beltran expressed his desire to wanting to remain a Met even up to a day or so before the trade. And there is no evidence to support the claim that Carlos had not mended things with the ownership and the fans - in fact, Carlos had nothing but good words about the organization at the same time. So I wont be wrongly accused once again of making up stories, attached is an article from July 16 in which Carlos expressed both such sentiments:

http://espn.go.com/new-york/mlb/story/_/id/6773844/new-york-mets-carlos-beltran-want-finish-my-career-here

He was also a team player who accepted being shifted to right without a complaint. He risked re-injuring his knee in 2010 in late August to send a message to the Phillies about taking out rookie Ruben Tejada.

http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york/mets/post/_/id/10811/beltran-happy-despite-whiff

So to infer that him going to walk was an automatic contradicts everything he said (and I would not put Carlos in the same class as Sandy Anderson when it comes to sincerity) and is simply an assumption based on no substantial evidence.

Sandy conducted negotiations the proper way with Wright - trying to work out a contract extension prior to his walk year. With Jose, he admits doing nothing more than telling him to shop around and get back to him. So again, to assume Jose leaving was an automatic is again based on nothing other than assumption with no substantiated evidence.

Yes, Angel was not the brightest of players and that didn't help him any with players and coaches unaware when he began suffering with colitis and thus started sulking in the clubhouse as well - and I am speaking from personal experience as to how bad that can be both physically and emotionally. Another part of the problem was Angel being uncomfortable being placed in the unfamiliar position as a lead-off hitter.

Also, Pagan was not eligible for free agency until after this season so the Mets had the upper hand at least through 2012 and it was the front office that wanted him out and felt his loss would be compensated with their improved bullpen. Would Angel and the Mets have wanted to stay partners with each other after his contract expired and a year to settle out bad feelings shared by both parties - nobody knows. But it cannot be taken for granted that he would not have remained if the Mets wanted him back.

After the signing of Rauch, Francisco and the trade for Rameriz (with Torres) one Met player texted to ESPN"Wow! This is no joke. This bullpen is coming together nice now."

And people say Angel is dumb? :)

Attached is an article

Come on it's the holidays work with me here. ;-)

25 yr old right-fielder locked up for the next 3 years. Hitting doubles in the gaps of Citi Field as he stretches some of them into triples. Playing with childhood bud Wright. Bringing his glove to RF while Capt Kirk mans CF with his glove and Duda plays LF.

Here I'll even throw in some highlight videos of that kid Didi playing SS and just think of him doing that while robbing Bryce Harper of a base hit.

Come on, I know you starting to feel it. You want to see this happen admit it. LoL :-D

Ok, let me reverse that:
1) the fact we got back such a talent for him is a big deal"

Remains to be seen if all that "Talent" transalte to being a major leaguer.. Remember, Beltran was the most prolific hitter at the time, and the Giants gave up wheeler for him, speak about how highly they really were on him that they traded him for a rental...

2)And at the time, the trade was a good one. It just didn’t pan out for the Mets"

Don't remember many people who went goo goo ga ga over that trade.. Only you and the idiot who wrote the whole "He had a good day" Article were happy aboout that..

3) Reyes wanted $100 million and jumped at the only team that would give it to him"

Ok, we can say the same about wright and his comment about wanting to win.. Every player is the same, no need to take a shot at him for that. You think wright gave 2 fu*** about winning once that deal was in his face? Don't be naive, you're not that stupid.

"Sandy had going for him when he came and board and what we have now."

Which is the same thing minus Reyes

1) Beltran was leaving. And after the way he was treated during his tenure here, I don't blame him. the fact we got back such a talent for him is a big deal.

2) Pagan was being run out of town on a rail. Why do you choose to ignore the numerous rants, from people you are now buddy buddy with, about how terrible it is we have Pagan out there everyday? For all we know, Pagan was that legendary "change of scenery" case. And at the time, the trade was a good one. It just didn't pan out for the Mets.

3) Reyes wanted $100 million and jumped at the only team that would give it to him. The problem with trading him in 2011 is that he still had questions about his health, was injured at the trade deadline, and was clearly intent on hitting the free agent market. And, maybe the Mets really did think they could resign him. Could they have handled the situation better? Probably, but not much.

Off Topic but I was remembering the 1st MMO "Amazin’ Hypotheticals" post and how creative it was about a trade involving Justin Upton and the resulting discussion it inspired.
Maybe with this trade there should be another Amazin’ Hypotheticals post. Something where the key players revolve around New York sending R.A. Dickey to Texas and say Ruben Tejada to Arizona with Texas sending Mike Olt to Arizona and Arizona sending Justin Upton and Didi Gregorius to New York since the Mets now have the added payroll flexibility.

HI Donal,

What I mean is take a look at the personnal Sandy had going for him when he came and board and what we have now. And he could have attempted to re-sign Beltran, Reyes and negotiate an extesnion with Pagan if he wanted to. And if it was all about money and nothing more, re-siging with a big market team playing in New York usually does the trick.

Is that what you mean?
