As far as the rest, you never responded to the question I posed to you a few weeks back – why are you the only one saying things like:

Beltran expressed his desire to wanting to remain a Met even up to a day or so before the trade. And there is no evidence to support the claim that Carlos had not mended things with the ownership and the fans – in fact, Carlos had nothing but good words about the organization at the same time. So to infer that him going to walk was an automatic contradicts everything he said (and I would not put Carlos in the same class as Sandy Anderson when it comes to sincerity) and is simply an assumption based on no substantial evidence.

Sandy conducted negotiations the proper way with Wright – trying to work out a contract extension prior to his walk year. With Jose, he admits doing nothing more than telling him to shop around and get back to him. So again, to assume Jose leaving was an automatic is again based on nothing other than assumption with no substantiated evidence.

Yes, Angel was not the brightest of players and that didn’t help him any with players and coaches unaware when he began suffering with colitis and thus started sulking in the clubhouse as well – and I am speaking from personal experience as to how bad that can be both physically and emotionally. Another part of the problem was Angel being uncomfortable being placed in the unfamiliar position as a lead-off hitter.

Also, Pagan was not eligible for free agency until after this season so the Mets had the upper hand at least through 2012 and it was the front office that wanted him out and felt his loss would be compensated with their improved bullpen. Would Angel and the Mets have wanted to stay partners with each other after his contract expired and a year to settle out bad feelings shared by both parties – nobody knows. But it cannot be taken for granted that he would not have remained if the Mets wanted him back.

Ok, we can say the same about wright and his comment about wanting to win.. Every player is the same, no need to take a shot at him for that. You think wright gave 2 fu*** about winning once that deal was in his face? Don’t be naive, you’re not that stupid.

1) Beltran was leaving. And after the way he was treated during his tenure here, I don’t blame him. the fact we got back such a talent for him is a big deal.

2) Pagan was being run out of town on a rail. Why do you choose to ignore the numerous rants, from people you are now buddy buddy with, about how terrible it is we have Pagan out there everyday? For all we know, Pagan was that legendary “change of scenery” case. And at the time, the trade was a good one. It just didn’t pan out for the Mets.

3) Reyes wanted $100 million and jumped at the only team that would give it to him. The problem with trading him in 2011 is that he still had questions about his health, was injured at the trade deadline, and was clearly intent on hitting the free agent market. And, maybe the Mets really did think they could resign him. Could they have handled the situation better? Probably, but not much.

What I mean is take a look at the personnal Sandy had going for him when he came and board and what we have now. And he could have attempted to re-sign Beltran, Reyes and negotiate an extesnion with Pagan if he wanted to. And if it was all about money and nothing more, re-siging with a big market team playing in New York usually does the trick.

We’ll call this half a miss.

Maybe if he weren’t another lefty, I’d be more open about him.
