All they show is you should not bring him up until July, after july he is a pretty good pitcher and before then he is horrible.

Look at Acosta’s splits once he came back from the minors. I would glaldy welcome him back in open arms. I still think he’s better than Franky Frank.

Pelfrey – when healthy – is a solid workhorse # 4 starter who is absolutely alright in that role for any team. Unfortunately with the Mets, their longtime drought of frontline SP and his high draft status, he failed the expectation of being a good # 2 starter or even an ace.

However, once you eliminate emotions, he’s basically a Joe Blanton, Jason Marquis, Jeremy Guthrie or Carl Pavano type of SP.

Fortunately, the Mets have 5 better options for their rotation now and probably going forward as well. So, good riddance Pelf. He wasn’t a bust – but he fell short of high expectations…

I think with Pelfrey, several Mets fans forget that he kept the Mets afloat more than once when times were tough. He was never a #1 or even a #2 but was expected to be an ace more than once.

It’d be like the Mets in 2012 expecting Dillon Gee to take the ace spot in the rotation if Johan got hurt in spring training.

I’m rooting for the guy as long as he doesn’t go to the NL East. I think he is a pitcher who needs a solid defense and is just an above average pitcher who got hurt and was streaky.

Leroy if Pelf is picked up by another team who wants to bet that he’s going to have a nice season. Lots of pitchers come back and feel just fine after Tommy John surgery and sometimes they come back even BETTER than they were before.

I have a feeling that this is going to backfire for the Mets.

Acosta for around 500/700k is a very good deal. Don’t forget he was among the best relievers on the Mets staff after the all star. And on a team with little money that needs BP arms, he makes all the sense in the world.

Maybe the Mets should see what Feliciano is doing these days. A minor league contract for him would also be a good deal assuming he is ready to pitch.

Also as a replacement for Torres, Jason Bourgeois might be a good 5th outfielder. He plays all three outfield positions well, and has speed to steal a base.

Mets do not need below .500 pitchers, ours or someone elses. I thought we should have traded him when he won 15. Head case and Boras client not a good mix. Sorry, but not sad to see you go. With Pagan, we should have gone after a prospect and not a head case with one good year late in his career. Acosta, the same thing, another head case, he pitches well with nothing on the line.

A Pelf return if Mets deal Niese or Dickey sounds like a good plan to me. Acosta as last guy in pen for $750K is ok too. Torres doesn’t fit to me as his bat is too weak off the bench. Yes, he can run and play some D, but they need a better bat as the 5th OF.

There’s also the temperament issue, and his recurring inability to get out of jams. I just think we can do better than a 4.4 lifetime ERA guy who’s now recovering from surgery, and has never lived up to his premiere billing with which he arrived.

If this were to be Harvey’s fate in four years, I think I’d tear my hair out!

Wasn’t he a first round pick with a lot of hype who had control issues as well in the minors while racking lots of strikeout in the minors?? This is why a team nor fan shouldn’t put all their faith on a minor league pitcher, fans have high expectations for a pitcher from the get go then guess what? If that pitcher bombs out then what do you do? start to develop another “Stud”? Pitchers are crapshoot, guys in KC have been studs for years, yet we’ve not seen fruition..

At this point his prior draft status means nil…and you look at him as a pitcher whom has had success and you compare him to other pitchers whom are available.

He had 2 good years and 2 bad years….he just didnt live up to expectations and was frustrating to watch on the mound.

He’s a .500 pitcher/innings eater….who was frustrating to watch on the mound because he’s a giant man 6’7 250 lbs but he had the heart of a 6yr old 50 lb girly girl
