I´d guess the Mets bring back Chris Young on a 1-year, 3.0 million $ type deal.
I also wouldn´t be surprised to see some sort of a 6-man rotation being trade to keep the arms fresher and to avoid having the young pitchers get overtaxed.

Look at the organizational strength (young pitching, more than pretty much every other organization in Baseball up & down the minors – even before adding Syndergaard) and weakness (hitting, at least in the upper levels, there was very little besides Flores and to a lesser degree Lagares, Den Dekker and Tovar who look more like future role players).

Also look at the upcoming free agent classes – with very little quality hitting available for the next couple of years.

This team is now setup very nicely for a sustainable run starting at sometime between 2014 and 2016, depending on how quickly the plethora of young pitching does well. This is not “Generation K 2.0″. Back in the mid 90s it was Isringhausen – Pulsipher – Wilson and pray. Now there are multiple waves with far more depth than in the mid 90s.
So even if Harvey – Wheeler – Mejia – Familia & Co. don´t work out as hoped, you still have a bunch of high upside arms right behind them. And credit for that goes to both Omar Minaya & his team and Sandy Alderson & his team.

Obviously, this is far from finished. The outfield remains a mess – but with a 2014 payroll that – as of now – projects to be in the 55 million $ range, barring additions, there is plenty of money available to spend on trades & free agents to adress those needs. Because the bullpen should eventually take care of itself with all the young pitching. Be it in 2014 or in 2015.

That´s why 2013 should be about letting Mejia swim & learn in the rotation and find out for good whether he´s a piece or not and shifting Familia to the bullpen for good right from opening day in a low pressure role.

He needs time and he needs to know he is allowed to make mistakes because most (if not all) young and upcoming players make mistakes.

I think the Mets need to talk to Mejia and let him know he gets 10 – 15 starts. No matter what. My guess is he needs confidence, like a lot of plyers.

He has had 7 starts and let up 12 ER…6 out of those 12 came in his last start…before that game his ERA was around 2.50

I used to take him to Mets games in the early ’70s when he was nine and I was sixteen. He had a Mets uniform that he would wear to bed and to games that has Grote 15 written in magic marker on the back.

Truth is Sandy is doing what he was hired to do , which is the REASON he got hired in the first place…

Have a clearance sale, Get as many kids as he can while pretending it’s good for us and hoping that the Crickets don’t outnumber the fans at the stadium which is the only reason why he signed Wright.

And if Trading Dickey was the right thing then he should have traded Wright for WHATEVER HE COULD GET like he did here and then when no one showed up next year his work will at least have been done.
And we could then move onto hiring a GM that actually plans to do some CONSTRUCTION not DESTRUCTION.
