Why take bus rides to the west coast of Florida? They could charter a plane like an MD-80 or something and spend a few days there, taking much shorter bus rides to the west coast parks. They'd only have to do that once or twice a year.

Not getting naming rights money is the least of the Mets problems in Port St. Lucie. If another MLB team does not move to the east coast of Florida within the next few years, the Mets may have to look for a new home on the gulf coast. A great imbalance now exists in the number of Citris League teams between the east coast and gulf coast. This is resulting in a problem with the teams on the east coast facing each too many times in spring training or having to take long bus rides to the other coast.

The Mets are only one of four teams remaining on the east coast. And the Nationals, one of those four teams, are already looking for a new home to be logistically closer to the other teams. The departure of the Nationals, without another team moving east, would leave only three teams and could start a domino effect, with the Marlins, Cardinals and Mets leaving shortly thereafter.
