Reyes hit 280 but only had a 300 OBP for a leadoff hitter, that’s terrible. He had a good game 6 but lets not make it look like anybody other than Beltran and Delgado had a good series. If not for those 2 we get swept. And nobody is saying to erect a statue of Wright just not judge him off one series. He did hit 333 the series before that. Even Barry Bonds was non existent in his first 4 tries in the postseason.

Other players with greater talents have failed more miserably than D.W. in 2006. Winning is a team effort, so is losing. Example: Barry Bonds.

2002 World Series vs. Anaheim. Bonds hit .471 w/ 4 HR in the 7 games but SF lost anyway. On the flip side was Bonds poor playoff reputation. In 1991 with the Pirates he hit just .148 with only 1 2B and no RBI in their NLCS loss to Atlanta. In 1992 he did a “little” better, hitting .261 with a HR but only 2 RBI in yet another 7 game loss to Atlanta. Now, by and large, steroids aside, wouldn’t most people consider Bonds the greater talent between himself & Wright? The point is, stop castigating Wright for his playoff failures because he’s not the 1st All Star player who has failed in the postseason and he won’t be the last.
