No Alex you are totally missing the point of the Wright signing....

It's good because for the first time since the Sand People got here the best player on the team is actually retained and stops us from sliding further into oblivion.

He's not going to take us to the promised land, it going to take a Power RH Bat and Wheeler success for that to even be a possibility. But he does zstop us from sliding further into Moneyball history or becoming the Pirates and Oakland.

are you stupid?? Did the yankees win the WS last year? While ibanez was great for them last year in the playoffs, Cano is the man in the lineup, and him struggling the way he did was the reason the yankees were swept out of the playoffs.. you cannot be serious! BTW, can we get the last 2 years of mets record with wright being the man in the lineup please? Idiot...

For starters it's not totally accurate "Currently below 500 with him in the lineup"

David Wright has started 1,255 games, of those - the Mets have won 628 and lost 627.

Also "i think if the mets win a WS during his tenure here it’d be just like the SF giants with aaron rowand, all about pitching with veterans like a renteria coming trough for us, because his body of work don’t show me or you or anybody that he’ll come trough when it matter the most"

Who was more valuable to the yankees? Cano or Ibanez? Ibanez had a great postseason, but they ain't there if Ibanez's bat replaces Cano in 162 games. If the Mets make the playoffs its probable that Wright had a good-great season. Whether he hits a game winning HR in a playoff game doesn't determine his value.

If it did guys like Granderson or Cano would lose their job to Ibanez.

Gina, please don't get offended, how is saying he's unclutch (HE IS), or that the mets won't win a WS with him (Currently below 500 with him in the lineup) is hating the man, putting him down or not liking him personally? Spare me the drama ok. you don't think i want the mets to win a WS and him making eat my words? I just highly doubt it because of the body of work, and trust me, imho i think if the mets win a WS during his tenure here it'd be just like the SF giants with aaron rowand, all about pitching with veterans like a renteria coming trough for us, because his body of work don't show me or you or anybody that he'll come trough when it matter the most

For the record I think you dislike Wright and have told you this before so I am not saying anything you don't already know and your entitled to not like him. If you want to deny that go ahead but considering that rarely a day doesn't go by that you go without somehow speaking negatively about him or disagreeing with a comment or post that speaks positively about him I continue to be of the opinion that you dislike him.

The upside is there no doubt. I am more leery of pitchers with back issues. Haren has had some fine years mixed in with his career. The #4 or 5 comment was basically my way of saying they really can't lose in this deal.

Please, you somehow think we hate the guy personally too?
Somehow I don't think you understand English. I was saying that everyone, including myself, understand that Alex and you don't like Wright. However, we don't need to bring him up on every comment thread? And I did chip in about Haren. If you read the thread you'd see that. As well as Alex posted about it without mentioning Wright later.

It wasn't an attack as you seem to think, just purely saying we don't have to turn everything into the same argument on here. Unless for some reason you feel like we do. Though honestly I, and it seems like others to me, don't see the appeal in that.

Nathan, imagine this, this guy had a really bad year last year, but prior to that the guy avg 15 wins per season to go along with 220+ IP from 2005-2011, he can be more than a serviceable #4 or #5, this guy can be a bonafide #2 or even maybe a #1 on some teams if he does revert back to being who he was prior last year.

Who knew that Reyes while wearing a Marlins uniform last year was actually still playing for the Mets. That explains the 615-595 record despite only having played in 1,050 career regular season games as a Met.

Even though that both players were in the same lineup for a large part of these games and that this is just a slight 615-595 record mistake and Reyes career record in games as a Met is 546-504 the idea that both Reyes or Wright are solely responsible for that record is a stretch to say the least.

Don't worry I'm sure if the Mets ever win a W.S. with Wright still a Met in the coming years I'm sure there will be something Wright does wrong that someone will be sure to bring up to take away from him.

Quite fankly i like the idea of them getting haren, he's basically replacing Ejax and when he's on he can be one of the best pitchers in the game. for one year along with strastburg, zimmerman and him with the bullpen they had etc they can once again be the cream of the crop in the NL, usually pitchers who struggles in the AL and come to the NL somehow find life again, i think Haren was a good pick up by them.. IMO

"Plus, Lannan gave them similar number to Haren before he was demoted last year. Seems an odd deal to me."

Where has all this John Lannan love come from all of a sudden around here??? Is it because he is from NY???

I honestly dont get your logic how this is a odd or bad deal for the Nats. Haren is coming off a season in which he struggled due to injury He passed the physical and is only signed for "1year"...a prove your healthy deal.

And its crazy to compare Lannan to Haren career wise or even last years totals....When Haren pitched in 30 games 176.2 innings.

You realize Lannan only pitched in "6 Games" for the Nats last year 32.2 innings???

Lannan couldnt crack the rotation let alone the bullpen....He was in their minors majority of the year
