  • So that totals… $15 MM deferred. The salary divide isn’t that bad.

Upon looking at the bonuses, to be fair, the only ones I can see him receiving are…

    Gold Gloves/Silver Sluggers/All-star selection… each at $100,000. Not a big hit.

  • So with the huge discrepency in how the mets treat Wright vs. the rest of the team, including Ike + RA + others…I wonder if this will create the 24 + 1 atmosphere that Steve Phillips warned would happen with A-Rod

    • David Wright has paid his dues as a Met.

AROD was coming in from outside. Even wanted his own office in the stadium to market himself.

      • there is still a huge discrepancy in how Wright is treated vs the rest of the team.

        • Would u feel better if they offered Justin Turner a contract for 138 million? He has played with broken bones and came back forum a beaning.Maybe he deserves to be treated a little better than the average Met….

  • The bright side of this contract is that the way salaries are escalating, in a few years $20M will get you a backup infielder.

    • excellent, so lets trade for Jose Reyes

  • I love the add on, “and will have a suite on every road trip.”
Hahahaha. too funny… Oh My God, and. $100 a day meal money on roads trips.. HAhaha. the thought of paying daily meal money to a man earning 10+ million a year just cracks me up!

  • MVP bonuses, lol. Does anyone really believe the Wilpons are rooting for Wright to finish in the top 5 of MVP voting? I don’t.

  • This from Adam Rubin.

The $15.5 million in deferred money owed by the Mets to David Wright in the third baseman’s new contract will be paid in equal installments from 2021 through 2025, according to the AP.

Wright will receive $3.1 million per year during that five-year span. His eight-year deal expires in 2020.

Wright agreed to defer the money without interest.
