Untouchable! Are u kididng me? Does Sandy even watch any games of the team hes a general manager for? This guy gives up at least 1 run in every single big game! They like how he performed down the stretch? Wat! I remember the mets had an outside chance to get back in the race for the second wild card and he blew like 3 or 4 of those games that could have gave us some momentum. He is abominable at the level of guys like Mel Rojas, Toby Borland, and DJ Carrasco. I dont care if he throws 110 mph i dont wanna see him anymore destroying winning streaks and blwoing every big game.

There are very few people on a team that should ever be called "untouchable". I detest when I see that.

I think Parnell has the goods to be a good 8th inning guy, but still don't have faith to be a closer yet, hope he proves me wrong.

Untouchable?

Wow, Bobby. How does it feel to have the Mets hold you in the same high esteem they do Zack Wheeler, a minor leaguer who still hasn't learned to manage his control problems?

I like Bobby and other than that rough stretch he had from mid-May to early June , he was very dependalbe and has now had back to back fine seasons and at 28 has found his groove,

Even though he had no saves last season but did finish 23 games, the jury is of course out on whether that groove includes being a closer.

Parnell reminds me so much of Farnsworth. I am sure that the return for him would not be huge or even significant so I would rather him stick. It is funny how people view pitchers, he is 28 so his fastball velocity is only going to go down from here but pitchers can learn new pitches and they can learn more effective ways to order the pitches they have. A 30 year old pitcher with the tools is just as capable as a 20 year old to just figure it out one day. I would stick with Parnell as a 7th inning guy he won't hurt you there and can be dominant. Who knows one of these years he may turn the corner.

By Mets logic, if you're labeled "untouchable" or have "upside", most likely, you don't. Isn't that right, Josh Thole? How about you, Duda? How's it going, Brad Holt? Let's ask our old friend Fernando in Texas....

Nowhere near 'untouchable' but our BP is very thin, so hard to move him, unless we think Mejia & Familia could step-up (and not be included in trades elsewhere).
Would be curious to see what kind of return he would get us.

I like parnell, always have. He needs to get his sh** together though, every year we say the same thing about him throwing hard etc, but it's more than throwing, it's pitching. With that being said, after the horrendous bullpen sandy put together last year i wouldn't mind the kids in the bullpen, edgin, carson, parnell instead of overpaying for POS's like rauch, francisco or even to lose a guy like pagan for ramirez, Parnell has done very well the past 2 years as an 7th inning guy, his ERA was not bad at 2.49, after the ASB he had a 2.14 ERA, keeping him and putting him in the best position to pitch is fine by me..
