Lord, now "we" are political satirists too?

Can we stay on the subject of the Mets?

With all of the savvy baseball fans here, why is it that they do not accept the fact that a baseball GM is not going to tip his hand in terms of communication with fans. A GM is responsible to the owners who can have deep pockets and are willing to spend or going to the opposite side of the spectrum an owner who is in financial crisis. He does not answer to us!

A GM makes trades, signs Free Agents, negotiates contracts and in general administrates the day to day baseball operation at the major league level.along with directing his staff in the minor leagues to serve the needs of the parent club. THERE IS NO THIRD PARTY INVOLVEMENT WHERE WE ARE INVOLVED.

A smart GM doesn't want to alienate the fans but he is going to do just that with some of them. He is a genius to some, a moron to others. A GM gets lied to by other GM's about the health of other players, by agents like Scott Boros, and is the victim of circumstances that are not always foreseeable. Look at the Jason Bay issue. He was a very productive hitter in the National League with Pittsburgh and he did well in Boston too where the media and the fans can be tough. He signs a big deal in NY...plays hard..plays hurt and contributes at the Mendoza line for 3 years. Who is to blame? .

Folks, the GM's job is a crap shoot. Theo Epstein was a genius for years. He eclipsed Cashman in NY and Billy Beane in Oakland as one the better A.L. GM's and then got run out of town. The Yankees always spent wildly while George Steinbrenner was alive and despite all their successful years they did not win it all every year. Their fans deem any season where they don't win it all a failure. They are in for a rude awakening as their team is filled with aging overpaid stars and George's sons who will not spend like their father. They are not baseball men...they are business men and will not give Brian Cashman the money he will need for a fast turnaround. 2013 will see Derek Jeter a year older, a step or more slower after foot surgery, a roidless A-Rod who thinks with the "wrong head" and who financially has been crippling the team for years now. Brian Cashman will be looking for work too before long.....

Someone has to take the blame.and owners are unlikely to point the finger at themselves.

Sandy A's plan is to build a strong rotation, to count on the continued growth of his core players and when funds are available to spend wisely. No big gambles of cash or long contracts where health or age problems exist!

He is being prudent now and for the future! I think he will have the last laugh and save this team for his owners who nearly buried this team.

Sandy A just needs a bit more time! .

It's not weird at all....

Bats don't have a lefty righty version....
Gloves do!

A lot of these kids who throw Right/Bat Lefty do so because when they grew up they used a righty glove to play either because they borrowed a friends or because there is always a much smaller selection of Lefty Gloves when they went o buy one.

I have a nephew who throws right bats left simply because his Dad is from Ireland and didn't know there was such a thing as lefty gloves so he bought him a righty and he has played that way ever since!

But the eras is the same, that being said hpw do they do pitchers eras against lefties vs righties? I do t get it, do they only calculate when risp? I doubt it that would be really inconsistent 2 lefties get a hit then a righty hit a double do his era go up against lefties or righties. I would assume that who ever scores on him the what raise the era.

Besides his control problems, came across some things about Zack in his six appearances at triple-A last season which may or may not be an important indicator to watch out for but are interesting nevertheless when compared to Matt Harvey when he was also at Buffalo.

With runners in scoring position batters him him at a .300 clip. Harvey, on the other hand, kept opponents down to a .204 combined average.

Zack dominated left handed hitters, holding them to a .135 mark. However, against righties, the southpaw was hit for a .267 clip - a big swing shift. With so much platooning in the majors, he is bound to face lineups stacked with more right handed hitters which might put him at a big disadvantage. In comparison, left handed hitters batted .225 against Harvey in Triple-A and right handed ones .240, giving neither a big advantage.

Six games and 33 innings of course might not be much of a barometer to judge by but anybody think these figures are still something to be concerned about?

Hi Joe,

For about 35 years I didn't believe in the one gunman theory due to a lot of the strings that could be attached to each other. But then, computer analysis showed that a single bullet could have taken the course of projectory from the President onto the Governor had the shot been fired from the exact point where the assassin was supposed to have been.

That, and realizing too many would have be involved, everything would have had to work like clockwork ad eventually the press would have uncovered some sort of credible evidence (not like Oliver Stone's "JFK") which would lead to further public scruiteny made me come to the conclusion that the assassination was carried out by one man.

Taking all that into account, I am positive the complete opposite is true with the Mets and all these "leaks" and comments from 'unidentified" sources are indeed a part of a concerted propaganda effort to stir up season ticket sales - after all, it's been done before when we were told Johann would be pitching in 2011 and Carlos Beltran's knee problems weren't serious enough to require surgery.

.... and that Willie Randolph's job was secure as he boarded a jet for L.A.....
