I’m sure if that were to happen Wright would pick up the mantle of Chipper Jones
and beat our brains out for the next seven or eight years but at least he wouldn’t be
naming any future kids Citi. (I hope!).

well the guy who drafted him in 1996…Omar Minaya, when he was asst vp of the rangers…was the same guy who was trying to get him in 2008…and 2009…finally got him in 2010….

Omar = loyal to a fault

Now seeing how the Wilpons treat their players…trashing them to the press….I think loyalty is a 2 way street…

I dont see RA feeling like he owed the Mets a damn thing…did u hear the rant that Bobby O had on the last game of the season….he said RA shouldnt complain that he is underpaid next year….

this coming on the heels of the Ike fiasco…

Winning is a priority to Wright…I doubt the Mets will even make an offer, a la Reyes. Hopefully, they trade him before the season starts…kind of a mercy killing, if you will.

Dickey seems like the kind of guy, at this point in his career, that might actually give the Mets a deal for taking a chance on him a few years ago when he was, basically, finished. However, I still think he will be traded pre-trade deadline.

Not sure what’s the rush.. even with his option picked up the man is clearly overpaid… again, the best players from the CORE of 2005-2008 are long gone… only one left is wright, just because you’re the best player on a mediocre team doesn’t make you a franchise player and the team should go insane and overpaid for that player. It’s like KC giving a huge contract to soria because he’s their best pitcher. move on already, fans and everyone in NY know we’re rebuidling and wright’s best years are way behind him, and since we know that reyes, nor beltran nor delgado are walking through the mets door any time soon there’s no reason to keep him around and mistakenly give him a huge contract we all know he won’t live up to.. Sandy needs to trade both know that their ceiling is as high as it is…

While Sandy Alderson has a horrible track record for candor one thing gives me a gleam of hope. Last year, the Mets kept claiming they could sell $200 million to minority shareholders and that the deal would close imminently. That closing got put off at least 5 times and I thought it was the usual Wilpon BS. But it did eventually happen. Hopefully they can close out Wright and Dickey.

I think it would benefit the organization for talks to break down and Alderson to trade Wright. Sadly, my feeling is that this one is going the other way. The Wilpon’s have shown they want Wright here and will open the checkbook to pay him. Those who believe Wright in a Met uniform for the next 7 or 8 years is the best thing are going to win this one.

The deal probably won’t be backloaded. Sandy already stated that any deal would start after 2013, which means Wright’s option year doesn’t have anything to do with the extension. Sandy also said he doesn’t like back load deals.

I like front loaded deals. That’s how you pay appropriately for a playwr’s production.

I’ll give the Mets until the Winter Meetings to get the R.A. Dickey extension done. If they fail to do so then trade him for the best prospects you can get. When I mean best prospects, I’m talking about top 15 prospects in all of baseball. I’ll give them a little longer for the David Wright extension since he is the face of the franchise.

Andy and Sandy are so full of sh-it. It’s become painfully apparent that Martino has taken on the some role as Dick Young with his relationship with the front office. He’s now a propaganda machine for Alderson. Two years ago Martino had nothing but negative things to say about the Mets but in the last 18 months he pushes whatever they ask him too. Probably why Rubin left the News for ESPN.
