And ya, a guy who relies on his legs and already has hamstring issues, paying on a horrible surface for a year and hitting 30. Oh, and his contract rate doubles in the second half of his deal. third year he gets 16 Mil which is what Bay makes!

I just read Fangraphs article making a case for this being a sound trade and the Marlins for being a good model for a baseball team. I’m just not buying it. Part of a well run business as it pertains to baseball is putting out a good product that fans will want to see and spend money on. Don’t know how that could possibly apply to the Marlins. They had such a small fan base to begin with. This isn’t going to help the cause at all.

Besides, even if all these prospects leads to another WS championship in the near future, Loria will just have another mega fire sale the year after and do it all over again.
I don’t think the lack of spending is b/c there is no money. It’s b/c he’s cheap and would rather pocket as much profit as he’s allowed.

Even the Mayor of Miami getting involved and rightfully so.

We also have to realize that Loria takes money from the other owners of big market teams due to the collective bargaining agreement.

Any owner who can’t meet these ratios and minimum payroll as I suggest be mandated should be forced to sell regardless what the commisioner wants to do. Its like a mandatory jail sentence out of the judges hands.
