I personally don’t care much about how much he signs for as longs as he signs on the dotted line soon.
Does anyone here have an ESPN Insider subscription? Buster Olney has a piece on ESPN’s insider section about how the Wilpons must either find a way to re-sign Dickey or sell the team. The problem is that I don’t have an insider subscription so it only lets me read the first couple paragraphs.

Nothing personal to the actual author but anyone on this site using the name Dick Young Lives has a warped sense of humor….Next to M Donald Grant….Dick Young in my book is as “vilified” as can be in Met history

I would think that Dickey getting a GUARANTEED two year deal in the 28 Million vicinity should get the job done. The Mets get a break by having him on the cheap for 2012 at just under 5 million bucks.

Wouldn’t be surprised if he wanted one other perk after seeing what happened to Jose Reyes…. a no trade to TORONTO! LOL

Here is a dream of a thought…..With the idea of getting out from under the contracts of Jason Bay (albeit deferred) and Johann Santana after this next year Mets make a decision to shoot the works and make a trade with the Marlins for Stanton. We send Flores, Valdespin and two pitching prospects to Miami (other than Harvey and Wheeler).

I am always amazed at the boycott the Wilpon people who state they refuse to go to the game because they are not giving them one dollar of their money. I heard this rant from a guy on another blog and I simply asked “do you watch them on SNY”? Of course he did not understanding that he was basically supporting the same people.

Hi Brian,

And that is why both the Wilpons and Sandy don’t see the long-term damage they’ve created. Even when the Wilpons start re-investing in the team after Sandy has left, fans like you and I will still have second thoughts about giving them our hard earned money. As it was, many of us stopped going due to the ticket prices anyway, not willing to take out a small loan for a family outing.

Stop talking about it and just do it. The Met organization does a lot of talking and accomplishes nothing at all. Improve the team and just shut up about it. I’m still not buying tickets until they make an effort to contend and I’ll think about purchasing tickets from these crooks.

Isn’t it interesting that if you take that chicken parm out of the foil wrapping and put it on a nice dinner plate with the hero roll on a separate bread plate it would look less unhealthy even though it’s still the same?

That’ the same illusion the Mets have been trying to give us the past two years. But instead of chicken, we’re given bull.

Vesting option or team option maybe.

If he does wind up signing for 2 years guaranteed, I’d like to see a team option for a 3rd year. What if he’s very solid for the next 2 years? Would be worth picking up a team option for a 3rd year, especially since outside of Harvey and Niese, do we really know what the rotation will look like in a couple of years? I’d like to slide Wheeler in there as well, but that still leaves 2 spots open. Johan should be long gone and don’t know about Gee.

Since they gave Ollie 12 MIL a year for 3 years, Dickey should be worth no less, even if he’s willing to take a two year contract. Dickey is clearly worth more than Ollie ever was.

I wonder if 13 or 14 MIL per year for 2 years would get it done.
