My bad for believing Matt Cerrone’s comments on how he was curious as to why Aderlin was not on the list…

No need for curiosity Matt…we’re all curious how your staff said Ruben Tejada dove into 1B for 8 weeks and never once corrected it

I agree absolutely….

Omar subscribed to the same theory that most GM’s do…in that middle-relievers are not consistent enough from year to year to command a multi-year contract…

a year later he turns around and gives a similar deal that bradford wanted…to Scott Schoeweiss…

2 VERY under-rated aspects of this is how the bullpen was used under Jerry/Dan vs Willie/Rick

Rick Peterson was 10x better than Dan Warthen…who constantly ignored stats and put lefty specialists against righty mashers…not everyone is pedro feliciano…

another under-rated aspect of it was losing Paul LoDuca…the mets since late 2007 have never had a consistent catcher since Paul…its been patchwork…

now go find a successful bullpen that had patchwork at Catcher…and a pitching coach who routinely put them in positions to fail

Because Aderlin is 18 months older than Nimmom …but has demonstrated much more POWER..and still was left unprotected….it is fair to compare Aderlin to Nimmo…

It is not difficult at all for a team like Miami, Houston, San Diego, Minnesotta, etc to draft a guy and just hide him on the bench…he then can make a few “15-Day” DL trips, until September…when rosters expand to 40…

Where did Alex or Maniac say that Nimmo was a Rule 5? I know how you and Jessep feel about Latino’s in general, but now to contrive lies about something neither one said is a new low point. I see Maniac asking this is stupid a question about Nimmo that had nothing to do with Rule 5, but apparently about a discussion they had previously. All other comments about Nimmo are regarding what Maniac said and having nothing to do with him being a Rule 5. Some here keep asking me why I bring up this subject on this site and it’s because people like you overtly lie to make them look bad. Why must you create lies about them unless you hate them and what they are?

You’re going a bit too far in the other direction… Aderlin is well-recognized as a top 10 prospect in the system and he has ridiculous raw-power. And his sample size in high-a is way too small for you to be criticizing him for his bad performance, which wasn’t that bad by the way. The st. lucie mets stadium is a pitcher’s park and he still had a great Iso. power. Granted his defense sucks, he can’t run for his life, and his plate discipline is kinda weak(but not awful), but you’re acting like he’s a non-prospect here.

A buddy of mine told me the reason why Burke had such a turn around last year was because he started throwing side arm and his pitches now have nasty movement so maybe they get lucky for once and find a diamond in the rough. Protecting him though had no bearing on A-Rod Jr. Rodriguez is protected from the minor league draft.

Those lists aren’t made public but if I am correct the amount of players they can protect is something like 75, so how would they not protect a “top ten” prospect?

Rodriguez isn’t a good defensive player at all but the kid has massive power to all fields. He hit 17 HR’s last year the most a Met farmhand has ever hit playing at Grayson Stadium the Citifield of the SALLY League.

He’s by no means a can’t miss prospect but his power is very intriguing and he did improve his pitch recognition in 2012. With that said it’s highly unlikely anybody selects him and keeps him on a MLB roster and he can’t be selected by a minor league affiliate so it’s really not a big deal. I can’t see anybody keeping him on a roster for a full season being as raw as he is.

Next year will be a different story.

But he is protected! Just not from the MLB Rule 5 draft. Do you really think a team is going to take a risk on a player who has played 54 games in high-A? No chance. And even if they did, he’d be returned within two weeks.

People here haven’t even given Nimmo a chance. Just because he was drafted by someone whose philosophy is different from yours. There has been so much dislike, hate, hope for failure for a 19 year old kid who has played only 79 minor league games and never even played high school baseball. Give the guy a chance.

Yep that would seem to be the difference between a light hitting player in A Ball ultimate worth to the team…

Nimmo is touted as a great future player but a guy who hits as well as him only with power is not even worth protecting….
