Re sign RA! Re sign RA! wat the hell is so difficult about this? the wilpons need to either do the right thing or just sell the dam team. We New Yorkers deserve better than this crap year after year. This isnt some small 1000 population hick town in the mid west. this is the biggest city in the country and the most famous city in the world and to be putting out such a garbage baseball team year after year is ridiculous.

Met Fans just love an underdog because they identify with them.

Even a guy like Anthony Young managed to become a sort of folk hero despite the fact he had the longest losing streak going for him.

I was at the game he finally snapped it and the cheers would make you believe they just won the world series.

Agreed – when thinking in terms of the prospects and the future one might not realize that is sharing an approach the way the front office does – without heart and without soul. Those very important elements represent an important ingrediant missing in the way the Mets conduct their business today and it is indeed a rarity that in 2012 we found a player that still actually exemplifes both those qualities in R.A. “It”s not whether you win or lose but how you play the game” – that quote from Knute Rockne might soundcorney and out of place in today’s world but for many of us, it’s true meaning has still not been lost upon us.

If people thought there was a backlash when Reyes was allowed to leave just wait till you see what happens if Dickey is let go….

Dickey despite his very short tenure with us is going to be one of those Mets we talk about for years maybe even decades.

He is precisely the kind of guy Mets fans fall in love with and want to see more of.
And he’s Geek Chic to boot!

SA still has not shown that he is straight with fans and players.
RA is no Reyes plus his character has no tarnish to it so Mets and SA need to tread lightly if they think that “soiling” his character, age, performance will get them any points with fans or players in negotiations.

past Cy Young guys have gotten deals as high as 18-20 Mil and Dickey isn’t even asking for CLOSE to that.

So in his case holding out for more money isn’t a GREED thing since what he is askng for is still way cheap compared to other Cy Young winners.

Never can blame a player for going for as much as he can get especially when it basically is the last shot at a contract. Dickey is going to try and be secure as he can and that means as much guaranteed as possible.

The problem is most likely that the years are tied to the per year number.

I’m sure they are close on the per year number but the number of years is at issue.

Dickey would probably accept a 12-15M per offer if it was for 3 years but is looking for closer to 15-18 Mil if the deal is just for 2 years.

This is likely his retirement plan contract and it’s as valuable as he will ever be.

So I can’t blame him for wanting to hold out for more money on just a two year or desire a three year term.

I read last week that Dickey would be fine with a 2 year deal. If that’s true, I don’t understand why something hasn’t been done by now. Unlike other players who say they want to retire as a Mets, Dickey sincerely means it and is showing it. I believe he has three good years left in him before he starts to fade. Plus he already gave us three good years and is the ace of the staff. Who replaces him in that role? Santana? I dont think so.

i feel badly for RA. He’s a great Met, is a total straight-shooter, a very good & talented man beyond baseball, not greedy in this age of greed, and he gets dissed by the Mets. Very unfair.

Sandy and his gang of miss fit GM’S are waiting till the winter meetings. He will be pimping out Dickey and Wright. He will play the media as always we tried we made a competitive offer,but we were overwhelmed so we traded both players. Sorry Met fans we tried!! I can see it now all playing out before our eyes
