Yes, he hit better than anyone presently in the outfield. But that is a low bar. We’re at a point where “better than what we have” is not going to cut it. We should be focused on “actually good”.

The problem with Pierre is what would the Mets do with him? He can’t play CF in Citi anymore and he is also LH which even if he could play CF would take time away from guys like Kirk and DD. But of course when in Rome, insult the Emperor. It’s just the cool thing to do.

Another one of the so-called “cheap” free agent signings that were still too much for the Mets.Those “experts” that predicted the Mets would sign Melky were obviously wrong, and the one who said the Mets would sign Victorino is certain to be wrong, too. If we also believe the market for Dickey is not as strong as anticipated and that Hairston has priced himself out of the Mets’ comfort zone, look for a starting outfield of Baxter, Nieuwenhuis, and Duda.

I notice that every player who signs or is traded to any team but the Mets, Mr Donal applauds not getting. I guess Donal thinks the Mets have the best players at every position. Why then Donal do the Mets suck?

Nah, all we have to do is offer the same contract to any FA and they would instantly choose us over the other team. The problem is of course we don’t talk to one single FA the entire off-season because we aren’t trying to win…

When they had him in the 2 hole, he hit .339

Not that I would advocate signing any veteran over playing the kids…but Juan Pierre would’ve automatically leaped to the top of the org chart if he came to the mets..
