I gave no such prediction or timeline regarding Flores...

haha you're right on both accounts.

If Flores is in the Mets system to take over for Wright at 3B, something went terribly wrong for both of them.

Look I don't WANT to see Flores go but it makes sense. Where is he MOST valuable for a big league team? 3B.

The Mets have a 3B signed. Therefore, you see what Flores can net you. It's logical.

Just stop.

You're creating a pipe dream, trying to act like Flores can take Wright's job in 2 years. The Mets didn't sign Wright to have him replaced in 2014. Get over it.

Flores' role on this team unfortunately for his potential talent is as a trade piece. He's not going to play 3B for the Mets. Wright is the Mets everyday 3B for AT LEAST the next 4 years. Get over it.

Nope not just the Marlins....
Lots of teams sign a guy to a big contract only to have him replaced when a prospect shows he can replace the old guy without losing any production and get kids from trading the guy under contract.

It's only your limited thought proccess that thinks that can never happen and be a good thing.
You always trade valuable strength to get what your deficient in, provided you don't CREATE a hole to fill one, essentially filling NO Holes just moving it around the field.

If Flores hits for a good average and 30 HRs a year then why wouldn't you keep him and trade Wright for kids then?

I know you turned a corner recently but to go from one extreme and move to WIN NOW and rush to trade Flores before he can be worth more by keeping or trading later is just proof that you really have commitment issues and thats what is driving your opinions of making deals not any actual baseball or business sensibiity....

"It could also be a good thing to hold onto for another year to let him develop in AAA and see if he can make Wright expendable so you can consider trading him to fill holes without creating one."

So after David Wright signs an extension early this morning, you're STILL holding on to the idea that he will become "expendable" and get traded?

Really?

You understand that only the Marlins do that right? Only the Marlins are an embarrassment and dump a player a year after a long term commitment. Wright's going to have no trade protection at minimum in 1 year.

You need to move on from the idea that Wright can or will be traded because this morning ended all of that.

Not even CLOSE to the number of tickets sold before the season starts.

Can't buy packages, Can't buy more than 20-30 games worth...

And again it's all based on the players having good seasons you want to go see or th PROMISE of a continued good season.

But winning isn't what people go to see because the games they won are over and can NOT been seen by buying a ticket after the fact!

Incidentally, did you and others read Vaccaro in the NYP. Basically, he says it's the right move, but David cannot be the whole plan, just a part of it. Definitely the best Post sports man, IMO, and one of NY's best sports writers. Here it is:

I've seen him play and he's extremely slow. Scouts that know what they're talking about give his speed a 20 grade on the scouting scale of 20-80 ( Duda and Davis would be 25-30).

" He’s a 20 runner on the 20-80 scouting scale, and his heavy feet severely limit his range at third base. His hands are fine and he has a strong arm, but his lack of speed leaves first base as his only other option if he can’t handle the hot corner." - J.J. Cooper of Baseball America

So since you did that for a living when were the MAJORITY of tickets sold when you worked there?

Before the season started or after July when the winning was evident?

If you get nearly 1.62 tickets isn't that HALF (more actually) your sales towards a 3Mil per year attendance?
Yes they are renewals...What do they use to determine if they want to renew? What happens in July? or what they think might happen in July? Can you get half your draw after half the season is over?

And why does winning in a previous year sell more tickets the following year or inspire renewals?
Because those wins are counted in next year's win column?
or is is because THOSE WINS CREATED POTENTIAL STARS they want to see the next year?

Does winning really create sales or does it create stars that sell?
RA Dickey won a lot of games yet the team didn't win when he wasn't there...Was it the team that inspired those extra tickets they sold when Dickey Pitched or DICKEY HIMSELF that convinced them they might see a win that sold them?

In the end you WIN you CREATE STARS that sell tickets.
But you can get them without having them win merely by signing them.

A Broadway play is no different it could have a winning play great reviews but it draws less once the STAR who made the success leaves the production.

The entertainment industry sells based on Star Power...
Doesn't matter if you CREATE a star or go and buy one.

A BAD play with a good cast will sell more tickets than a good play with an unknown cast.
It is a reality of the entertainment industry most fans around here simply don't get.

Hope, Expectations, renewals, and NEW SALES are all based on the star power percieved to exist.
Winning creates STARS Players you think are worth seeing and that is what insires renweals or cancelations.
That and your ability to replce those stars when you are forced to lose them.

Not to mention 2B is not a speed position…you dont need speed to cover 2B ask Jeff Kent,Brett Boone, Edgardo Alfonzo…hell Daniel Murphy is no burner and this isnt saying much but Flores plays a better 2B than Murph….the main requirements for 2B are good glove, soft hands and a little quickness
