The fact that he can play all 3 OF positions really opens the market for him to more teams.

If Boston loses out on Cody Ross, they certainly could be in the mix…esp with Jacoby looking like he wants out of the there….they could have a barren outfield pretty soon…

same with the Yanks…

Granderson may be on his way out…Swisher is out…Ichiro and Ibanez are on their last legs….Gardner is injury-prone…a 200 mil dollar payroll and they still might have Eduardo Nunez start in RF. Pagan would be a good fit there too….

He still has a suitor in SF….

Not to mention ( gulp ) in Philadelphia…..their OF is not looking too good these days….
Also…Atlanta…..

i really like Angel in CF with his speed. he brings alot to the Giants defense and he’s wicked when on base.

It comes down to who needs whom. Has Pagan ever played as good any where else as he did in 2012? The Giants are team that is built around players like Pagan. They might find a comparable replacement in the free agent market, by trade or they even have a young center fielder named Gary Brown in the wings. They also have Blanco and Pence in the outfield so if Pagan can find a better place to play wish him well. It is a long time until spring training. Who would have thought they would have traded for Pagan in 2012?

S of that depends on the definition of big deal is but to me he is a good player and if 13.3 mil is the going price for a good player any mid to low budget team is screwed. To me he is just not worth that kinda money. I don’t know what hat they pulled this qualifying number out of but it’s kinda rediculous. I also don’t see how Pagan managed to be in that catagory but its the Giants headache LOL.

Yeah, that’s what I said above:
“To me it just shows they are afraid that if contract negotiations break down that me might accept it.”

But to me that means that perhaps the Giants don’t think and perhaps get the impression other teams don’t think he is worth a big deal.

TRS, I don’t think it’s fishy I think it’s fairly obvious, To the Giants Pagan is not worth 13.3 mil and there was too high of a chance that he would accept. They may be working on another deal for him but that is a seperate issue. Deals do not always work out and if they thought Pagan was worth 13.3 they would have made the offer.

It says nothing!

All they did was refuse to set the starting off point at 13 Mil and will now have to outbid other offers until those offers are beyond what they think he is worth.

If they made the tender then he is locked at or around that number.

Now they will simply have to beat any offers for him and by doing that they may save 3-5 Million off the price.

I don’t dislike the kid and honestly for him personally and the issues he faces getting out of NY was most likely the best thing for him. However, I still think the Giants not offering him qualifying offer seems strange.

He had three solid seasons in fours, and I wish him well. I always liked this kid, I wish they weren’t so quick to trade him and had gotten him some help for his depression instead.

I don’t really care about your speculation on Wright and Dickey or any other bias comments. All I am saying is it makes no sense for them not to offer him the qualifying offer. The only reasons you wouldn’t do it is if for some reason the player didn’t want you to or if you didn’t want to. There are no other reasons.

That’s just your own speculation though. You’re making a story where there really isn’t one. What is your speculation on the Mets picking up options on Wright/Dickey after it was leaked there would be deals in place before World Series? My speculation is that Alderson blew smoke up our asses and they are as good as gone.

No it just seems strange. Why lock yourself into the contract or nothing situation? Why not just go ahead and make him the qualifying offer, isn’t like you can’t turn around and sign him. To me it just shows they are afraid that if contract negotiations break down that me might accept it.
