I only disagree to the point of the system is so void of offensive talent and it's hard to get a team to trade offense for offense. If the return is there for Wright, sure. However, if you get the right return for Dickey and you keep Wright and use Dickey's money and his trade acquisitions you can become competitive more quickly. Again, that depends on the returns for Dickey and Wright and the ability to surround Wright with more talent.

If you trade Wright and Dickey and you do not get impact bats back then you have just made Ike Davis into a worse version of David Wright. Think what kind of pitches he would see and his inability to lay off those pitches.

Hey Leroy, I couldn't disagree with you more. Lets not forget that catcher Anthony Recker is now on board, as is a brand new strength and conditioning coordinator Jim Malone, who will oversee the team's strength and conditioning coach. Plus we hammered out a three year extension for J.P. Ricciardi which wasn't cheap. We did all of that in six weeks since the season ended, and we're not done yet.

which stats would u like me to use ?

among CF, Pagan was 1st in 3B, 3rd in 2B, 10th in batting average,

the fact is, you have no tangible bar set for Angel to reach to....

no matter what he does, its not good enough, i get it, u can stop trying to defend your position with the absence of facts, data, stats and logic

Just say you dont like the way he plays, he plays like a dummy head, you would rather have rick ankiel play CF and call it a day

You all excuse me guy, but this is a no brainer here. DW is not asking for a team friendly contract right now, nor giving a hometown discount to make sure he will retire as a Mets. One of the Mets best prospects is at 3B and knocking doors. Send DW packing for two good prospects, save the money and in 2014 you'll see the results.

Good job by Sandy dragging the Wright and Dickey negotiations all through the off-season to take fans minds off of his lack of moves to improve the team.

He'll say he we got a late start on free agency due to negotiating contracts with 2 players whom will be Mets this coming season regardless barring a trade

No, it would not change it

My thoughts on David Wright have less to do with money ( they can easily afford him ) and more to do with the amount of 21 year old or younger talent a 31 year old 2nd generation player can bring back

If David were 28 ( like Reyes was ), maybe a 6 year contract, ending at year 34 would make sense.

But he's going to be 31 when that contract starts...with 6 more years after that...

What happens if we trade David...he does not resign with that team ( as Beltran did with SF )

and now we have all those prospects we got him for PLUS the ability to resign him again ( as Cliff Lee did with Phi )

Fact is, If David Wright values winning, there is a large chance that he will not sign ANY contract here in Queens....and when he says he is not the type to squeeze out every last dime...it may very well be that he chooses another team for LESS money, but a better chance of winning.

I would not villianize him for that. Neither should any Met fan

But with that being a realistic choice for him...I would put trading him on the table in January, after initial season packages are purchased in December ( gotta fool the fools ) but before it's too late.

My man Murph can play 3B this year...and stay there....

Flores at age 22 can play in AAA, 1 more year to groom

Effective payroll drops to about 30 mil in 2014. More cushion for the pushin

and now we can make a move on Felix Hernandez..who will be throwing the ball to Juan Centeno

the 2014 Mets starting catcher !

So now WAR is cherry picking?

But when you refer to WAR, its not

and considering that most Met fans were very happy with Angel Pagan in 2 of the past 3 years as a Met...and this 2012 season fell in line with those 2 seasons, one can reasonably conclude that this is the norm for Angel, not the exception.

Unless of course you choose to ignore facts, stats and data that dont support your conclusion.

Climate Change is real and so is Angel Pagan

Hate to admit it but I agree.

If they're going to get rid of one or the other, might as well break down and start over. There's very little 'Mets brand' left and two of the biggest are RA and Wright. Not a good enough reason to offer either a contract - talent would be the biggest reason. I still believe we're better off with both instead of trading both. Prospects would be nice but as many have pointed out here, they're a 50/50 gamble at best.

Which is what we've been saying all along.. We're in rebuilding mode, why rebuild and keep them both? For what exactly? We had them both and finish 4th in back to back years. no sense and point in keeping this 2 guys when is obvious they're not gonna help us win anything, might as well get something in return for them NOW while we have the opportunity to get really good prospects and build around harvey, davis and co.. Sell high while the opportunity is there, the fan base is mad at the front office anyways, no sense into spending money on a guy that we know what he is already and a 38 year old pitcher... SELL, SELL, SELL!!!!!!

At this point, my hopes for the team are so low that not keeping David and R.A. would be the last nail in the coffin for me. I do not believe these two will make the Mets any closer to being a contender due to all the other problems created by the front office and ownership nor would they be counterproductive to the rebuilding effort, however, I will at least not have to go through the agony of seeing them in an opposing uniform. It hurt with Reyes and it definitely hurt with Seaver and Straw so that is a situation I don't want to experience again.
