You know what the Mets need to supplement Thole? A right-handed hitting platoon partner who’s been around the block.

Whoops…..was that a right-handed hitting veteran catcher that can platoon with Thole that just flew by?

but…but…but..(favorite saber sarcasm) pickings is slim – must defend Sandy….must defend Sandy…must defend Sandy.

They didnt rush last year they panicked after Marlins signed Reyes.

They were trying to prolong the Reyes situation through free agency to distract fans from there lack of movement.

They were planning on using Reyes last year the same way they will use Dickey and Wright this year, although i suspect they sign 1 or both(which i think is a mistake)of them.Contract talks are the perfect cover for lack of movement via free agency or trades. All they have to say is they put all there focus into signing those 2 big names and people will eat it up whether they achieve signing them or not.

When Reyes signed so quickly on nov.13 that excuse flew out the window then fans turned to Sandy we just lost our best player how can you improve this team. And he proceeded to sign Francisco & Rauch on Dec. 6th then trade Pagan for torres, Ramirez the next day Dec. 7(all bad moves). Then tried to sell us oh the reason we failed last year was the bullpen…all fixed now! Which we know is not the case, because even if the bullpen was fixed who supplements Reyes, Beltran production? No one, he didnt even bring in anyone just in case Duda doesnt pan out.

Ive always heard successful people are proactive not reactive….Sandy is reactive and he is bringing the Mets back to the days of NO Assets oon the field just a bunch of scrubs

It’s amazing how 3 years in a row NL East teams move early. I forget we like to wait and see how the markets develop. Having Methuselah for a GM has its drawbacks.

You don’t get that I see your point of view, it’s just the way you say it and interject it even when not necessary and utter refusal to see the other side of the issue.

However, yes if they re-sign him I would imagine they will .99 cent shop pending what they do with Dickey. A budget is a budget so unless they give Sandy more money to spend then yeah not trading Wright will decrease that available amount. Duh.

That is why I said that everything depends on what they do with Wright. If they trade Wright then Dickey too is a goner.

Ok, mark my words… First of all, if wright is extended is going to be a tremendous mistake, of EPIC PROPORTIONS… second of all, if it happens, look for it to be done around december, after the winter meetings have finished and once again we will go to the 99Cent store to buy players… Last but not least, the guy has choked under pressure, imagine the pressure to live up to that contract once is giving to him… He’d be booooooo unmercifully by mets fans in 2013 if he has a start like the second half he had last year.. Having this guy on a team that’s trying to rebuild and go forward is and will be a huge mistake..

Your bias comments aside, yes rushing it. You don’t see too many deals like what Wright and the Mets are discussing happen quickly.

Rush?? You mean prolong it right????? That way if we don’t sign anything but garbage as expected they can always call it a successful offseason because we extended a 39 year old pitcher and an overrated/2nd half declining/choke artist 3rd baseman

I think that is why they are trying to rush this Wright thing, stay or go it is going to completely dictate the rest of the off-season.
