BJ is a decent player but I think the Braves are better with Bourn and his high OBP in the leadoff spot. I just hope Bourn anywhere but Philly or Washington.

So, what’s the big deal? Alderson is compiling a monumentous amount of data that suggests they may or may not discuss certain situations in which certain players may be talked about in a legit attempt to perhaps acquire them in a way where the Mets only give up Justin Turner or spend no more than 20 bucks.

So, what’s better? BJ Upton or window shopping?

don’t forget, he puts up these (still pretty solid) offensive numbers in a pitchers park as a plus defender in center with 40+ stolen bases every year with almost no time missed from injuries.

Agreed. I have seen a lot of BJ Upton. Talented but not very impressive. Maybe the change of scenery will help but he had a good manager in Tampa who wasnt able to get the best out of him.

This is a great pickup for the Mets. If you haven’t seen this guy play much just wait for him to lallygag to first or mail it in on a deep fly ball. This guys effort comes and goes like the wind. Also having streaky guys like him and Uggla are gonna make those summer doldrums brutal for that lineup.

I don’t mind him, I just think his last name adds hype and he’s been one of the biggest underachievers in a while.

His #’s are not that good over the last 4 years. So you have to bank he gets better as he ages?

I dunno.

I still think Atlanta signs Greinke which will be a bigger move for them

Actually, I thought he would have been a good fit here. Even if he didn’t play a great CF, we could stick him in RF and let Kirk handle center.

I’m personally very underwhelmed with BJ Upton.

In the last 4 years he’s been a .242 hitter getting on base 31% of the time and averaging 20HR and 69 RBI.

That doesn’t really worry me to be honest. I think he has a lot of talent but somehow it hasn’t translated on the field.

He could be nice I don’t know. He’s got more power than Michael Bourn but I don’t think he’s a better overall hitter than Bourn and Bourn plays a better CF.

So to me, the Braves didn’t improve their 2012 team here. I get why they did it but I’m not gonna sit here and tell you they are better than they were last year.

You forgot Delgado, Tehran, Minor and Hanson. All good arms with good upside. Also have the best bullpen in the division and the games best closer. They are stacked and still made the playoffs with Beachy hurt last year. Upton is a righty nd evens out their lineup and he is younger than Bourne.
From a Mt fans point of view we are so far behind these guys nd the Nats
