Wow, how the mighty have fallen. I wasn’t long ago people were scrambling for the Mets to sign A-Rod if he reached the open market. Now we laugh at the Yanks folly. I have not watched A-Rod play that often the past couple years; however, his swing still looks solid and he could possibly put up some crooked numbers for the right team but I doubt the Yanks will jettison him. Being honest they would get nothing back and would have to eat a ton of his contract. I think they would rather wait and see if his bat comes back, especially when they are losing Swish next year. I hope the Yanks suck it up next year and only win 60 games but I somehow doubt it. Lately, they have an ability to win no matter how old or incompetant the team is. I hope the Mets can take a page from the book and start signing players that work well within a team concept, much like Granderson. Granderson, as pointed out, is a mediocre player away from the Bronx. His numbers are mainly an abborition caused by the band box. This reminds me of right handed hitters coming out of Boston. or pitchers out of Oakland. Our fields have always been slightley shaded to pitchers and we have done our best when we capitalize on this. Anyway I am rambling, Down with the Yanks Long live the Orange and Blue.

Actually i just looked it up…the yankees have insurance that pays reimburses them for any time A-Rod spends on the DL

David Wright
Jason Bay

Ruben Tejada

Yankees trade:
Alex Rodriguez – 120 mil left
Mason Williams, CF, 20
Jose Campos, RHSP, 19
Dante Bichette Jr., 3B, 19

The Mets will need to trade Dickey or Niese for a top SS in the minor leagues who takes over for Ruben Tejada…

Ruben will be entering his arb years soon…and will enter the not-affordable zone very quickly…

The object is to get as many top talented players on the field in their pre-arb years from 2013-2017

their clocks started 2-3 years ago….

the only thing we would need is for the Yanks to chip in and pay half of A-Rod’s salary to make it even on the books

1 – then after we further shrink our dimensions to help A-Rod rebuild his value…
2 – we trade him back to the Red Sox…pay half his salary ( so now Boston pays 25% ) ….
3 – now he can come back and haunt the Yankees as their DH…
4 – break the HR record in a Boston uniform for a quarter of the cost that the Yanks paid….

this gives the Evil Empire a real reason to hate us other than the fact that we play in the same city as them…

Since Matt Cerrone and his bosses frequent this page for new and innovative ways to run the franchise, I figure I would do my part to help out in the “creativity” department !

Throw in David Adams at 2B…Gary Sanchez at C….Mason Williams at OF…along with Alex Rodriguez…

in exchange for Jose Reyes and Heath Bell…

thats a pretty decent trade…

The Yankees get a setup man when Soriano leaves this off-season…and a backup in case Mariano still has issues…

The Yankees get their replacement for Jeter…

The Yankees get rid of a headcase in A-Rod

The Marlins get to stock up in 4 different positions for the same price they are paying now..

The Marlins get the home-town kid

The hometown kid gets to play out of the spotlight…surrounded by some good hitters…

Not only that but my impression of a deal like this is that the trading team would actually be sending money to the acquiring team who assumed all of that players contract. Thus the contract status would not change and it would still be a contract no insurance company would touch.

I doubt teams are totally unaware of PED use. There is too much money involved to not do due diligence, especially with players who broke in during the 90s.

Insurance companies have stopped covering long term deals. They now do them in 2 year increments at their own discretion. If a team wants a long term deal or a lot of money for an older player fully insured, they have to do it themselves.

That being said no way are the Mets trading Wright for Granderson. What’s the point?

This is pure fantasy but we need a centerfielder and the rumors are that the Yanks would be willing to part with Granderson and Russell Martin. Could we be filling our needs here and we could put Jason Turner at third until a more permanent solution is found. Nuwenheis could go in a deal and they say Swisher won’t be back either. I honestly believe something could happen to the benefit of both clubs and Granderson would go to the NL so he doesn’t hurt the Yanks in the season. If you put Duda in the mix somewhere he could be an AL DHer. Call me crazy. I don’t mind my wife does it all the time.

Unfortunately if Wright is playing for the Yankees that means the Mets did not re-sign him and he either played out his contract or was traded to another team and then signed with the Yanks. I see no way in hell the Mets will trade Wright to the Yankees.

I heard on a sports show that this is A-Rod stuff is bubbling to the surface because the fan base is getting restless and they are losing the fan base that can afford to pay the “elite” seat prices. If any team in professional sports and especially baseball can “eat” salary it is the Yankees. Let’s face one key fact this Yankee team is OLD! I think their done for this season and they will have to break the team down and retool. Just look at these guys, Pettit, A-Rod, Jeter, and Rivera key players at the end of their careers. The 2013 Yankees will look a lot different than the team we see today. I’ll close by saying something I said before. Is David Wright their third baseman of the future?

Back to your real point, it really wouldn’t matter because Reyes will be out of town in a year or two anyway. Arod in his current state unless he goes back on the juice? The Yanks got themselves a problem.

Again, if the yankees are willing to pay a good portion of his salary, why not.. He’d be better than anything the marlins put at 3rd base, and with reyes and stanton in the lineup where he clearly doesn’t have to be the man i think it might work for him. hell, had we traded wright last year and kep reyes i’d be campaigning for this guy harded than someone i knew campaign for sandy alderson to have his good day..

I initially thought this trade ARode talk was just media stirring the pot.
But I’ve since changed my mind.
There’s a reason someone is leaking a story about a ‘casual’ conversation the Yankees had with Miami about ARod in ST…especially now.

Plus, I found Ian O’Connor’s article below interesting. He makes some good points. Might be time to move on, for both sides. Not sure how feasible it is but it certainly sounds like the Yankees would like this divorce. If yes, it’s all going to depend on ARod and his no trade clause.
