I loved Johan’s no-no and it brought me to tears of joy when it happened. But Dickey’s entire season was amazing to experience. The double digit strikeouts, back to back one hitters, the shutouts, 20 wins, and hopefully a Cy Young. All that trumped the no-hitter for me. The fact Santana was the worst pitcher in baseball after the no-hitter really soured it for me.

Haha, no what really happened was one of the Mets pitchers hit I believe it to be one of Colorado’s best hitters and in fear of retaliation by Colorado, Terry took out Wright of the game and Wright was pissed. Wright screamed at Terry saying he wants to be in and that if anyone should take the hit for the team it should be him, but Collins didn’t want to risk it (this was in the first half when Wright was dominating).

Something similar happened roughly a week later and Collins kept Wright in and he just took the hit. Needless to say the “MAKE WRIGHT CAPTAIN” shouts were never louder than on that day.

It was the no-hitter, without a doubt, for it seemed like a fifty year accomplishment.

I remember the next night going to a restaurant and a stranger was wearing some some of Mets garb – asked if he was a Met fan, he said yes, then we both shook each other’s hand in congratulations.

That was the impact – it was shared by all of us.
