Ohhhh, i am actually looking forward the bullpen… I wanna see the grade and jesseP’s answer about it.. since he was the one who predicted a good day for SA the day he acquire those 3 POS’s AND tried to inexplicably defend the bullpen somehow for them not being as pathetic and horrendous as they were.. SMH..

Hey Connor. Can you do me a favor and let us know what day you’ll be doing the outfielders? I want to make sure I avoid this site on that day. I have no desire to see the same people defending Sandy for a starting OF of Bay, Torres, Duda, and if I post what I really think about that it will only lead to Donal, TRS and Jessep starting a war about it and then srt saying “this!”.

Judging by the fine job you did here, I would imagine the OF would get your lowest ranking possible. Let me thank you in advance for that.

And to think that Jon Niese’s name still comes up as a trade candidate is mind-boggling. He’s already established himself as a solid number two. I think you were a bit generous with Santana’s grade and I would have given him a C+. On the flipside, Hefner had some jitters when he first came up, but he seemed to find a good groove that was unexpected towards the end of the season. Overall, this was very well researched and you drew logical conclusions. The two points I disagree with you on are minor.

For all of those who were crying for Warthen’s head, this is why he’ll be our pitching coach in 2013. Great job by him and the rotation in an otherwise crappy season. The no-hitter, back to back one-hitters, 20 win season, rookie record for strikeouts, and potential Cy Young, all happened on his watch this season.

Nice job, great research. I was especially glad to see Gee rate a B and not fall under the cracks. I can only imagine how many more wins we could have gotten if we had a bullpen, outfield and catching corps that was half as good as the rotation.

out of curiosity, I looked at Dickey’s stats, and 2010 was almost a mirror image of 2012 with his peripherals. He pitched 7 fewer games (starting into the year), but other than K rate he was very close in everything else (WHIP, ERA, ERA+). Other than wins, but that had a lot do do with the team behind him!

Going into last season I was less than confident about our starting pitching. I was wrong.
With the injuries to Pelf, Gee and Johan having to be shut down, you have to give props to Dickey and Niese for not missing a start and pitching as well as they did.

Dickey deserves a higher grade than A+, if that were possible. Not only did he have a great year – winning 20 and ending as a NL CY candidate – he did it with an abdominal tear that happened early on in April. I know he gives credit to the doctors and trainers in managing the pain for him all season but I think it speaks volumes about his fortitude and work ethic. We need more ball players like him.

Going into next season, SP right now seems to be our only strength.
The rest – speed, defense, BP, OF, catching – not so much.
