Come on Alex….the Coeur takes care of that on a daily basis here, if not hourly.
Also….I haven’t come across any articles on any other website that went down this road.
That’s probably because most of the media knows it would be jumping the gun to do any lengthy article about ‘installing a culture known for nothing and never winning any championship in NY’ because the current FO has only been in place for 2 years. They’d look a little foolish saying ‘never’ after that short amount of time.

You guys are amazing you know.. I applaud your efforts of somehow try to make this past offseason at no so bad or failure offseason.. How come SRT doesn’t post the articles where her lord SA gets blasted for installing a culture known for nothing and never winning any championship in NY? as if it wasn’t bad enough that we have crooked owners now we have a guy shoving a bunch of sabermetric bs down our throat on national TV just to make himself look smart, she goes way and beyond lenghts to look for an article that somehow makes this past offseason where he purely acquire crap not a failure… Hey, look, we’re #8 in terms of FA added, sure francisco, rauch and ramirez along with torres suck donkey as*, but WAR says antyhing above replacement was better than 22 other teams!! Wow, yohhooo that’s amazing…
Wanna know WAR? here we go, David wright on a putrid team and with good numbers has a 6.9 WAR
Jose Miguel Cabrera, having almost secure a triple crown, first since 1967 has a 6.8 WAR. with his team on the playoffs and only 13 errors commited at 3rd base with an avg 1B at best in fielder catchign his throws. Just saying….

Always sad to see the end of another Mets season, even if it’s a fourth place finish. I’ve been through the worst of times and the best of times with this team and no matter what I stick by them. On Thursday I’ll start counting the days until pitchers and catchers report like I’ve always done. Enjoyed your post.

Nice read Jessica. If you said back at the start of the season that Santana was going to pitch a No-hitter, Dickey was going to set the Mets All-Time consecutive scoreless innings streak without giving up an earned run and be a legit candidate for the Cy Young, Ike Davis was going to hit 30 hr’s 89 rbi’s, Tejada would hit .300 most of the season, and the Mets would not fall below .500 until the 2nd half of the season. I would of said Wow!

Of course the flip side is how terrible the team played for most of the 2nd half especially that 4-25 streak at home. But like all Mets fans for the most part we will be back rooting and supporting our team come Opening Day 2013.

On another note. Now with the season over and the playoffs set to begin. Looking at the A.L. standings the Angels and Rays are 1 win away from 90 and are eliminated from postseason play. It makes that much more impressive what the Orioles and A’s have done this season.

On the contrary, I’m happy the season is over because the misery now ends. Despite the Dickey, Wright and Santana moments, they would have been a lot more meaningful if the Mets front office would have met its responsibility to the fans in even the slightest way to do something to make the team competitive in the second half. This is among the worst and most cynical performances by management in my nearly 5 decades of following the Mets. It will take some pretty dramatic moves to bring any spirit back.

the mets DO have big deals. They just weren’t signed this past off season. And odds are, the Angels and marlins aren’t signing any more huge ones after this season either.

people seem to get focused only on new money spent each year, nt factoring in the total payroll for the year, or even how much came off the books.

bottom line, Mets are still in the top half of all MLB teams in payroll (or right at the mid point).

Also, a team like the Angels would normally be considered a legit playoff team and a signing like this (even if they are paying over market value) puts them over the top into a legit World Series team.

Yes because generally a large signing like Pujols is never going to have the expected gains based on performance alone. What it doesn’t factor is the team is willing to pay more understanding there will be diminished returns on performance but increased returns on other revenue areas like merch and ticket sales.

As a Mets fan I get it. We are all worn out and want the team to get better. The acquisitions that were made were some of the teams biggest issues, so when you look at the article it looks like total BS. But if you take the time to read it and get into what they are looking at it makes a lot of sense and it is interesting to look at subjects from different angles.

As Mets fans we don’t want to act like small market teams but that’s what they are doing right now and that why this article is important. We want to be like the Angels and Miami and make some big deals again and to get excited again, but where did it get those teams. Those teams spent more money to overall get worse performance as a collective total. That is important information to understand.
