"But people like you and others portrait him to be some type of godsend "

Really, so is that why I continue to say that he isn't a superstar and have in the desert multiple times proposed trading him.

Look, I realize the impact he has had on the organization. Anyone that thinks he hasn't been a good solider and done everything he can to represent the team well is foolish. He is one of if not the best position player the Mets have produced and his place in Mets history is sealed an no one can take that away.
HOWEVER, as I have said I root for the Mets. It's ALWAYS about the name on the front and not the name on the back for me. So if the Mets are better by signing him to an extension, I am all for that. If they are able to trade him for multiple pieces and the end result is the team is better, I am all for that. If they decide to just let him play out the year and they get a great year from him and make a run and then let him walk for picks and the end result is the team is better, I am all for that. Again, I want what ever it takes to make the end result be what all of us should be striving for, a sustainable winning Mets team.

You have some unfounded grudge against him because of how the media and fans portray him"

And how do they portrait the guy? You mind telling me? He's a good player, not a superstar nor a franchise player, nothing against the guy.. But people like you and others portrait him to be some type of godsend and he isn't.. why spend money around this guy if superstars who can actually carry a team are not walking thru that door? Might as well trade him, get as much as you can now that his value is at its highest it'll be and move on already.. We obviuosly didn't win sh** with him either so what's the point of paying him a large sum of money when it's clear his best years are wayyyyyy behinfd him

LOL, Jeter is known as the most overrated player in the game. Do either of us believe that?

That's not the point. We both agree that unless the team gets a good deal on Wright they need to trade him. Where we differ is why. You have some unfounded grudge against him because of how the media and fans portray him. I realize that the team has too many holes to continue to spend like the Mets did in the past and have an unbalanced payroll.

For someone who doesn't want people to continue to talk about reyes and how negotiations went, you sure do bring it a lot.. At this point we all know the truth, and most of us who were angry have moved on, however, it's not about wright vs reyes to me, it's about not being financially locked up for years to a guy who's known around the league and by its peers as a choke aritst and one of the most overrated players in the game.. Now, if you wanna go ahead and give the guy $18 million per to walk a lot and hit 15+ HR, 70+ RBI and fade out in the second half and already showing all kinds of sign to decline then be my guess..

No silly, if you are talking about someone who choked every September and tried to single-handedly complete the collapses of 2007 and 2008 I thought you had to be referring to Reyes. I just wanted to make sure you were giving him his fair share.

Again, why is it that every chance you get you try to get a dig in on Wright? I would venture to say that there is enough players on the current team that suck enough to place blame elsewhere. Reyes, Wright and all those guys ultimately failed. Stop being such a poor sport that they ultimately chose Wright over Reyes and move on.

You know the one's right? make it about 12-15 responses and let each commenter fill in the blanks numbering from 1-12. OK Joe--olive branch from Kingman here--try:

--The Maid and the Queen--great recent book on Joan of Arc by Nancy Goldstone

--The Presidents Club--amazing book about the relationships of ex-presidents from Hoover to today. By Nancy Gibbs and Michael Duffy and outstanding regardless of one's politics

--It Takes a Pillage--by Nomi Prins and an outstanding book on what really caused the recent financial meltdown

--Grunge is Dead-An Oral History of Seattle Rock Music--by Greg Prato--If you have any interest in 1990s Seattle music, this book is unreal. Everyone is interviewed, including Layne Staley's mother on the details of her son's life and death. Incredible book

--The Godfather Legacy--by Harlan Lebo--INCREDIBLE behind-the-scenes book about the making of all three movies, heavily focused on the first. Includes amazing stories and pictures, including a classic shot of Brando smiling and acknowledging the locals watching after filming the scene where he was shot while buying fruit while Fredo dropped the gun
