TR, IT CERTAINLY WAS/IS IN OUR VERY,VERY LITURGEOUS SOCIETY CAN ANYONE SPELL TORT REFORM? WELL OBVIOUSLY NOT IF YOU LEAN LEFT AS MOST OF NYC SEEMS TO THROUGHOUT MY 62Y LIFETIME AS NYC GAVE RISE TO TAMANY'S DEM PARTY MACHINE, THROUGHOUT THE 40s,50s,60s NYC FLAUNTED HER STRONGDEM MAYORS POSING AGAINST THE UPSTATERS' GOP CHOICE FOR GOVERNOR

I 4 1 BELIEVE THAT UNTIL UNSCRUPULOUS LAWYERS ARE PERSONALLY HELD TO A POTENTIAL PERSONAL FINANCIAL HIT THE ISSUE OF PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITIES BEING FOISTERED UPON OTHERS(GROUOPS/CORPS.,ETC) WILL REMAIN A HOT TOPIC DEBATE.

MOAST OF U KNOW I'M NO SUPPORTER OF WILPONS,KATZ, OR ANY OF THE PRESENT "CORE" OWNERS; BUT TO ME, BLAMING THE STAND-PAT APPROACH TO THEW JULY DEADLINE IS SIMPLISTICLY CONVENIENT.
TO ME THE RIGHTEOUS ANSWER IS THAT ALDERSON DID NOT BELIEVE ION THE THE TEAM'S FIRST HALF PERFORMANCE AS SUSTAINABLE EVEN WITH ADDED JUICE AND HIS TARGET HAS UNWAIVERED FOR A 2014 RESURGABNCE WHEN MORE THAN HALF OF HIS BUDGETED PAYROLL ISN'T LOCKED INTO JUST 3 PLAYERS NO MORE THAN 2 OF WHHICH PLAY IN MORE THAN 25% OF THE GAMES..." BAY+SANTANA+WRIGHT"= 61% OF OF PAYROLL

ONE MAY ARGUE SUBSTANTIALY THAT A "BETER FINISH" IN 2012 WOULD WORK IN A COUNTER MANNER TO ALDERSON'S PLAN AS RECEIVING THE BEST AVAILABLE DRAFT POSITION WOULD HAVE CERTAINLY PROVIDED HIM WITH A MORE AFFORDABLE MEANS TO IMPROVE THE EMPTIER POSITION PIPELINES @ OUTFIELD,CATCHER,2B...

Pre-Season Question: Will Sandy Alderson have a clear and honest plan on where the team is headed and show tangible proof that we are on that path

Post-Season Answer:

A resounding NO.

For all the sabermetric magic that came with his hiring, what we have seen here as Met fans is a puppet installed by Bud Selig who from day one has intended to sell met tickets via smoke and mirrors. Sandy is living on the reputation he earned 30 years ago...but since 1997 has done absolutely nothing to uphold.

For example,

1 - Releasing Oliver Perez and Luis Castillo

Sandy is a rare moment of honesty, when discussing the logic behind releasing these 2 players, revealed that although with Perez, his performance was the reason behind his release..Castillo's release went beyond performance and had more to do with public perception and how it negatively would impact ticket sales. Forget the fact that Castillo coming out of spring training was the BEST option at 2B. The fans hated Castillo and that counted more than PRODUCTION. There is no sabermetric stat that accounts for the amount of BOOS a player gets. But Sandy has been in the interest of selling TICKETS, not getting wins ( which coincidentally SELLS TICKETS )

Alderson is left to speculate on why players who might not be with the Mets on Opening Day have gotten so much attention.

"It's human nature," he said. "There is interest in those two players in our fan base. It is natural for there to be quite a bit of coverage about those two. They are among the most debated players."

The GM even conceded that public perception will be a part of the team's ultimate decision, although would not supersede performance.

"We have to deal with reality and sometimes those perceptions have to be taken into account." Alderson's weighing of those complex factors

http://articles.nydailynews.com/2011-03-17/sports/29172291_1_mets-gm-sandy-alderson-luis-castillo-oliver-perez

--------------------------------------------------------------

2 - Thinking that the avg NEW YORK baseball fan is entertained by offense...and not by WINNING...

When discussing the reasoning behind the dimension changes at Citifield,

"The second is that, to some extent, it’s a question of entertainment. The hardcore baseball, I think, enjoys the 2-1, 3-2 [games]. We’re appealing to a little broader segment. And I think offense is appealing. Offense sells."

------------------------------------------------------

I can go on and on with examples of how Sandy Alderson ( via the Wilpons ) is really not showing us the genius we thought we were getting in 2010...

Instead...the Sandy we have in 2012, is a mere reflection of this man from 1980....

bit.ly/R8Jnuk

listen to this man explain to angry and tired Met fans, his plan to bring fans back into the seats...

Understand THAT and you will understand the mess we are in today

Let Jason Bay's 2012 season go down as the worst in Mets history. .165, 20 RBIs, TWO doubles. If that came from a bench player (oh, that's right, he IS a bench player), they'd dump his ass fast.

It is not Wilpon's financial status it is the mets. If the mets were raking in the dough, it would not matter if the wilpons personally were billionaires or nearly broke. The Mets supports the mets, not Fred's checkbook.

remember the guy (pollard? pollack?) that used to own the Twins? one of the richest guys in the US, and the team was run on a shoestring because that is the revenue it brought in.

and no chance the Mets tender Pelf. could be back on a MiL/incentive type deal, but that is it.

Well I have to say that it was a productive year for answering questions. Some would disagree but I stand firm. Wright was a huge ? not so much Ike? not so much The Rotation? not so much Tejada? not so much Murphy? not so much Outfield? yeah thats junk Bullpen? Junk. So we had a team of nothing but questions coming in to last season and this offseason we have a terrible outfield no catcher and a junk bullpen but all other questions have been quieted, for now.

With 10 MIL or so to spend coming into this season, trying to fill all the holes with that spending money was going to be next to impossible. They concentrated on the BP and basically that was a failure. The first half season that BP was an absolute disaster. The second half saw some changes that did improve it somewhat but too little, too late.

The improvement plan for the franchise is an overall one - from the farm system on up. That always takes time before you see any success from that.

Looking at the post season teams this year, I think it's put to bed the notion that only higher market teams spending money will be successful. As we should all know by now, it's not how much you spend, but how you spend it.
