How there can be a team in a Large Market, with no players to market? It makes no sense. This isn’t Tampa Bay, or Toronto where no matter who is on the team, there will be empty seats. This is NY.

If you are reading this Sandy…Resign David and start spending some flippin’ money and stop acting like this is some BS small market team. You have to spend money to make money. Oakland may have shocked the world this year by winning the AL West, but that happens about as often as Haley’s Comet flies through. This small market mentality in a very, very big market has to stop. I’m not happy Oakland won….wanna know why??? Because it will validate Alderson’s philosophy as he points out what Oakland did to support all this crap.

#1 and top of the list is how much the ‘HATED WILPONS” wish to endure if he leaves. My guess is they have enough PR problems already they will not allow Sandy to cause another one even if it means taking a cab instead of a Helicopter to a heat game!

And #2 and something not really much under team control is how convincing can Sandy be when he tries and tells Wright that there is a playoff in his future?
He is now on record saying 3 years away from even being a Normal Spending tream again. Thats not going to sit well with a guy entering his mid-prime and looking for a ring before he retires.

I personally don’t think Sandy wants Wright back but the Wilpons do.
The questuion of that was his last game will really depend on how Sandy decides to sell Wright on staying and that he doesnt’t just screw the pooch in a way that he can claim to the Wilpons and fans that he actually tried (without trying) and trying to blame it on Greed the way he did when it was Reyes that was the priority!

Boston has lots of salary room and a sense of pride. I’m looking for the Mets to make a block buster deal with Boston. Wright, Dickey, Bay, and Davis go to Bean Town….Sandy and the bean counters will be fawning over the boys from the Pawtucket Red Sox and their low expenses.

Fonzie makes the correct point that the Wilpons can’t afford the P.R. hit, however, we have to remember that it is Sandy in charge and he is looking beyond the public relations hit but to the ledger book and has already told us this means looking ahead to 2014 and 2015 as financials. As we saw the past two years, he looked at reducing costs more than increasing revenue. Why, I do not know but I suspect there is more to it than can meet the eye.
