Yesterday Was Kind Of A Bad Day… And Then This Happened!

Saturday was one of those days for me when very little if anything went right, you know what I mean? Things were looking a little better when I discovered  a new trendy restaurant and ordered this amazing dinner of Korean braised short ribs topped with caramelized onions and served with chipotle mashed potatoes and honey glazed baby carrots.

Then it was a mad dash home to watch the Mets game. After that satisfying come from behind win, I forgot all about the bad day I had, that is until I found out at 11:30 PM that Satish’s laptop had fried and I had to write the game recap…

Oh man, not tonight I thought…

But the trooper that I am begrudgingly flipped open my own laptop and I went online to begin writing about that night’s victory.

With a yawn I noticed that I had a new email and thought I’d check that first, and then it happened… Oh My God – it was only like the most perfectly, well timed email I could have ever wished for!

Hey guys!

Just wanted to send an email to you all and once again tell you how much I’ve enjoyed the website in the 2 years I’ve been with the Mets organization.

The views and comments are, and have been, truly the most educated and non biased I’ve encountered in my 12 years of playing.

Your site is always the first I look at in the morning and I continue checking it throughout the day. You all really deserve praise and credit for having such a well designed site, and authors who have knowledge of the game of baseball. It’s been a real pleasure to visit.

Although my time is coming to a end with the Mets as an organization, I’ll continue following you to keep tabs with my teammates and the friends I’ve made in the time I’ve been here. A special thanks and good job to Petey Pete!!!

Hope you all have a great offseason and holidays too. The future is bright I promise you. I’ve played with some really talented young players in this organization and they are on the way. As a lifelong Mets fan myself ( I caught a lot of flack growing up wearing Darryl Strawberry jerseys in St. Louis), I’ll always keep saying LET’S GO METS!!!!!

Justin Hampson, Buffalo Bisons/New York Mets

Thank you so much, Justin, for making all of the hard work we all do here so worth it. We all hope you’ll be back, but either way we wish you and your family all the best in everything you do.

Incidentally, Justin saved the game for Zack Wheeler and the Bisons last night, and thwarted a late inning rally by the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs to earn his fourth save of the season. :-)

  • That was very cool of him and he’s 100% right. Hampson sounds like a pretty solid guy, not sure many players would take time out to do what he did I would imagine. Anyway, I’m a longtime reader here and I love your site too.

  • Well deserved praise. You all do a fine job portraying all the angles and views.

  • Did I miss something?
Why is his time with the Mets coming to an end again?

    • Justin is not on the 40 man roster which leaves less of a guarantee that he’ll be back.

However, I still think he is a reasonable answer to the Mets’ left-handed reliever issues (Edgin must be given more days off), and with those words he left us, I’d like to see him brought up this year and given a shot next.

      • Granted but that sounded a bit more certain than just the possibility of being a Rule5 loss…

  • The future is bright I promise you. I’ve played with some really talented young players in this organization and they are on the way.

To read that from Hampson was wicked cool and gives me hope as far as the direction of this team goes. Music to my ears! :-)

    Hey Justin, don’t go dude!

  • That he took time to write that email and say Thanks speaks volumes about him and MMO. Thanks for sharing Joe D.

  • Keep up the great job! I enjoy all the original and unique things you bring up everyday even when I don’t agree. lol This is a great place for Mets fans to enjoy and untainted by the Wilpons money. Lets Go Mets!

  • I’m really hoping Hampson is back. I don’t understand why he didn’t get an extended look in the bigs. Seemed like a no brainer.

On a separate note, what restaurant Joe? That sounds delicious. Haha.

  • I’m sure that he echoes the feeling about most of those that travel here daily, whether we leave a comment or not I like to read the recaps , am getting more into the Minor League reads so I have an idea when a player is mentioned or brought up, but anyway I happen to agree with Justin other that the hope he gets an opportunity to be a LH option because it seems that Edgin is already pitching quite a bit so Justin, hope to see you in the show soon.

Thanks, once again, JoeD for sharing what makes this site awesome!
