Because it is, the guy you all praise and rave about JON RAUCH has a 3-7 record to go along with an 3.51 ERA and makes $3.5 million. go figure.. yet Rauch is this great guy sandy got yet he has similar #’s that schoenweis had in 2008.. but of course, Omar get ripped for that signing and alderson gets praised for rauch.. Double Standard at its best..

I hope it doesn’t turn out the same with getting nothing in return. Jose’s demands were too high based on the injury risk factor involved. Add the fact that Ruben Tejada was in the wings and that is why the Mets were not going to get involved with a bidding war. They gambled and lost on the basis of the players edge in these situations.

This time will be different. Hopefully, Sandy A will be able to sit down and begin negotiations on giving Wright and Dickey the extensions and money they are asking for and do it within the next 30 days or so. The longer the brass waits the tougher it will be.

“Even Flows” first posting may be the most accurate in that if Sandy and Co feel they can’t possibly meet the demands then he will indeed be a seller this winter. What would he want to get in return for these two players? The big money market teams will play hardball with Sandy hoping that they would have a chance to get these guys instead by the Free Agency route a la the Jose way.

The fallout from the loss of two guys who are such fan favorites would be enormous!

Hope it’s not July 1977 all over again!

I could care less about attendance, so don’t throw that shit at me. This team needs a facelift, one that should’ve been done the last 3-4 years, but neither Omar or Sandy have gone fully with it, fooling fans about competing with “5 year plans” and getting somewhere in 2014. If the fans don’t come out because of a guy who peaked 4 years ago is not back, so be it.

That would make Sandy’s remark as quoted by Rubin make sense. But it also implies it’s the Jose Reyes situation all over again. I do not believe Sandy know something now that he didn’t know in August. As I said, nothing has changed regarding the team, it’s finances, it’s play on the field – or David’s own personal feelings.

“I fully expect that David Wright and R.A. Dickey will be here not only next year, but longer term. We’re going to deal with it up front while we have a little room to maneuver.”
