When we finally got Rusty back he was like 30 pounds heavier and a shell of his former self. He could still hit but oftentimes when he’d get on with a pinch hit, someone would go out and run for him. He was a solid run producer in his era. Thanks for reminding me of how good he was. Classy guy too.

I saw Joe Torre (the manager) speak after the trade, and he said it was because Staub was a tough negotiator. You could also tell that he was tired of answering the question.
